A must visit! Very rewarding journey once you get to the top. Getting into the view point was quite a hike. The to access the area was also bad (no asphalt). The main parking area for tourists are so far down and you need to walk a lot. If you or your guide have 4WD ask them to drive further inside to save you some walking/hiking time. There's a high rock formation that you can climb to get that picture angle that you always see on Instagram. Be careful when you're going up and down as the rocks can be slippery. Make sure your shoes has a good grip. Nu ai cum sa nu ajungi aici. E foarte frumos. Recomand Now that's a beautiful man-made lake right here. To be honest though... the way up here was even better. The canyon is just superb to look at. It’s our second in Albania, and this we decided to visit Bovilla Lake (last we have been just for two days so we haven’t got enough time). We rented a car by which was forbidden to drive to area around Bovilla, so last minute we decided to rent a quad. We were lucky, because as the weather wasn’t good few people resigned from renting them, but we, as we love adventures, say yes! The owner was very nice, he rented us three quads and we go for the adventure. Really this adventure was the biggest in my life. We were traveling in the rain and then back by the storm with heavy rain and hail. All of us were totally wet everywhere :p we finished after 1,5h and must change our clothes in our bus. The is terrible :p a lot of holes, not so wide, big trucks from quarry, not so many safety barriers and general - climbing to Bovilla rock was a challenge :p but we did it :) the view (in march and in rain) is maybe not so spectacular but when you would like to see Bovilla lake - do it :) Stunning. I parked at the first parking behind the dam and walked up the rest which just takes around 30 minutes to the top. Entrance for the main viewpoint and using the metal stairs up is 100 LEK which is fair. Tends to get a bit more busy around noon when I left. The there is a small dirt with a lot of potholes and vehicles coming the other way so drive carefully. So I’ll be honest the views are magical but driving to this place is hell, the streets are destroyed you better come with a 4X4 car and you should be a good driver and you should have patience Ok the views here are just gorgeous. And the steel platform can give you marvelous selfies/pictures. But I must warn You. Getting here from Tirana by car will make Your car cry for shower. Moreover the gravel to get there was basically not very safe at some points especially given if there are several cars who try to pass you from other side. We had few heart stops during the way especially since we were a bit scarred to break our rented car.... Recommend 4x4 car if you want to ride up to the restaurant point. Near the reservoir there was fragment of asphalt which was relief for us :-) Nice place but driving here was a challange. There is a lot of holes in road. Last lart is asphat but there is about 6km tragic road. I suggest to rent quad on the start of this road. We drive here but it was stressfull. If you're staying in Tirana, it is definitely worth the visit up to Bovilla. Stunning views by the lakeside, and easily accessible for a quick swim too if interested! The hike up to the restaurant and beyond, up steps embedded into the mountainside brings you to a viewpoint over the edge of the mountain which has to be one of the best photo spots in the area. The only issue is accessibility, the "main road" is mostly a gravel track which is slow and tricky and a 4x4 is definitely recommended if you're going to make the Excellent place for a short hike. My recommendation is leave the car at the dam and walk up to the mountain, the experience is a good one and the you get the satisfaction of the walk 🎉 Très belle endroit qui se mérite car la route pour y aller n’est pas en très bon état. 17km 1h de route depuis Tirana ça donne une idée. Restaurant et joli point de vue In my opinion the number one must see in Albania. You can get up their with your own car, BUT trust me, the investment of 25 euros for a paid tour is worth every penny. It is not an easy and being driven up here is way more comfortable. Nervenkitzel und so eine atemberaubende Aussicht von da oben Simply a breathtaking experience, which is worth dedicating a whole day to. In order to get to the Bovilla Reservoir, we decided to rent a car and make it a day trip. The toward Bovilla is a journey in its own: we really enjoyed observing the authentic countryside, the lifestyle of the Albanian people further away from the city and the lovely spring weather. Although the is slightly difficult to get through, we managed to get there and back to Tirana without a major accident. Nevertheless, please check that your rental car is ready for such a trip! Our rental car had damaged clutch and broke the day after the to Bovilla, so perhaps we got lucky. At the reservoir there is a restaurant on the top of the hill, which is quite convenient to reach with car, hiking takes longer obviously. The tour guides are really friendly and are going to take care of you throughout the entire hike. Multiple spots for taking wonderful photos. A must visit if you are in Albania and have the access to the car! Super lac avec un panorama extraordinaire, accès un peu difficile sur 8km mais faisable. There's a small trek upto the top. Low to medium level difficulty. Best place ever. Went here as a day from where we were staying in Tirana. Took us about 45 mins to get to, roads may be harsh. Once you get there you are greeted with a beautiful lower level view of the water to the mountains. Once you get there, their will be a that meanders up to a restaurant and a vista. In addition, there is a small trail you can take to the top of the mountain where the views just get better. Well worth taking the whole day for this to Bovilla Lake 🚘⛰️🌄 Het eindpunt is prachtig. De weg daar naar toe is niet best.
