You can walk to the other side of the dam but car access is closed. The lake is hidden deep in the mountain area, from Sinaia it's about an hour drive over a beautifull curvy named TransBucegi. When you reach the Bolboci Dam you can admire a nice view, eat some boiled corn or forrest fruits from the l9cal entrepreneurs, fish, take lots of pictures and be on your way towards Padina and Ialomita Cave. Great dam with nice Panorama view for the both side lake. Also,You can enjoy eating corn Beautiful location, the from Sinaia to the dam is breathtaking with lots of places to stop for photos. On the left side of the dam is a cabin where you can get a drink or a meal. There are few trails thru the woods, we follow one that end up at the edge of the lake. Am revenit recent la barajul Bolboci și, chiar dacă apa este mult mai scăzută decât în urmă cu câțiva ani, peisajul rămâne absolut superb și impresionant. Locul are o energie aparte, iar albastrul apei continuă să ofere un cadru natural relaxant și revigorant, chiar dacă nivelul apei e scăzut. Drumul până la baraj este foarte accesibil cu mașina, ceea ce face vizita comodă și plăcută. Nu se poate trece cu mașina spre Cabana Bolboci pe pod/baraj, întrucât există bariera, ci trebuie ocolit. Se poate doar pe jos. Este un loc perfect pentru o pauză în natură, pentru a respira aer curat și a te conecta cu peisajul montan. Deși nivelul apei a scăzut considerabil, farmecul zonei rămâne intact. Mă bucur că am avut ocazia să revin aici și recomand cu drag celor care iubesc natura să viziteze barajul Bolboci, chiar și pentru o oprire scurtă. Beautiful landscape, the lake was covered by snow. Not at all crowded even on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The was fairly manageable but we couldn’t advance by car towards Cabana Padina due to potholes/snow.
