Used to love coming here as a kid , but recently a with my family left me feeling frustrated and sad, the in a lot of the tropical tanks look so depressed and crammed in too much with nothing at all in there, yet some of your beautiful plants would help in their tanks . The Bettas are one of the worst I’ve seen , really need improving for the sake of their welfare , also your beautiful set up is full of planeria, which I wouldn’t expect to see from a place especially when its full of shrimp that can be killed. I’d rather go to pets at home and that’s saying a lot, as they actually look nice and more spacious in their tanks with plants in quite a few of them for enrichment that the rightly deserve ! You also had none of the I came in for sadly , come on Goldfish bowl ! One of the best I have ever seen yet across London and Oxford! Very special with highest grade indeed. But the prices of the have gone a bit nuts . 129 quid for a pair of blood parrot ( tropical not marine ) is insane. I know because I have these and I brought them for around 59 for the pair and mine were larger . Even the small were too expensive. Ornaments also very expensive when compared to elsewhere. I visited The Goldfish Bowl today for the first time. It was a very special occasion as it is my son's 23rd birthday and we were going large with our shopping 💪🏻 What an incredible experience. We were there for hours, loving every minute in awe of the array of beautiful fish. Barry and his in store, particularly Ciaran, who assisted us personally, couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Thank you for making Finn's birthday the very best day. I have been visiting on and off for the past couple of months to kick start my love for with barrys knowdlege and staff's help. Always an absolute pleasure to deal with. hobby is not always easy, its not ment to be - but it is fun and seriously addictive once you know how. All the other negative reviews are just nonsense or just bad luck, a place in oxford that i hope will remain for centuries to come. This is a real gem for anyone who loves and aquatic life. The are incredibly kind and attentive — they truly understand your needs and always offer personal, thoughtful help. The service feels unique and genuine every time you visit. The and supplies are top quality, and everything is well cared for. You can tell they love what they do and want their customers to be happy. I’ve been coming here years, my late father used to bring me to the as a child in the 80s as my parents kept discus so I have happy memories of this place and now as an adult keeper myself ! Started from scratch as a new owner and did quite a bit of research into shops. The store’s personal and knowledgeable approach made me feel informed and comfortable on my journey. No question was too silly and no issue outside of their understanding. I have returned many times and each time I feel more and more part of a community. I would definitely this to others with their wide variety of fish, supplies and amazing (especially Luke). Drove for an hour to come and the today after seeing good reviews online. Every member was lovely and very helpful, we were asked multiple times if we needed any assistance or had any questions. The tanks in the may not have been pristine clean but all the were healthy and happy which is always a nice thing to see. There was a very diverse and broad range of salt water fish, most of which I had never seen before. Ended up buying a beautiful betta for a small I am putting together but will be back next month for a 200 gallon stocking. Well worth the trip, would to any new or experienced keepers in the area. Having been coming here to look at the wonderful array of tropical and cold water for many years, I have decided to set up a small in my house. The have been so friendly and supportive. They recommended the required equipment and the appropriate for the size, and they have been testing the water regularly, adjusting the regime of the chemicals needed for water optimisation. They have been delivering the information at an appropriate pace, one step at each visit, so we did not feel overwhelmed as new owners.The wellbeing of and satisfaction of the customers are their highest priorities. 100% recommended by our family, thank you for your amazing work and support AVOID THIS SHOP!!! They have sold me sick TWICE! First time they sold me with Ich and then the second lot had fin rot. One of them sadly hasn’t made it. Due to needing to dose the twice with medications due to the illnesses being contagious my good bacteria has been stripped and my is about to crash. I have had my very stable for such a long time and now everything is in a crisis. Barry (shop owner) was not even very apologetic. He gave me 1 free (£3.99 or something) for the convenience. Not that I haven’t had to spend at leased x4 times that on medication. Barry is also very pushy with sales. I know he needs to make money but it’s really annoying having everything shoved down your neck. then there is the really rude older woman who interrogated me for trying to return an unused item. I had changed my mind after doing some research, realising it wasn’t the best product and then it was £10 cheaper elsewhere. She interrogated me and had to ask permission from Barry as if I was a child as she said I “must have it”. When Barry gave permission he was very grumpy about it and passive aggressive when I told him I had seen lots of bad reviews of the product. I also want to point out that there are a couple of younger male there. They have been super lovely and helpful. I won’t be returning to this ever again. Had a call with Barry regarding the cycle of our before getting fish, as we had the set up for 2 weeks and was still struggling with the nitrite levels. He advised on what we could do to help and within 4 days the tests came back perfect to add some fish! We then went to the and spoke with Barry and his who was amazing at getting us everything we needed. The attention to detail and knowledge for each is incredible. We now have one very happy little girl to finally have her “favourite fish” Thank you all at the Goldfish Bowl! What an incredible shop! Bought 14 different types of cichlids and they are all beautiful. The owner went above and beyond and gave me 10% DISCOUNT on £400 worth of after walking me around and explaining everything!!
