The architecture is overwhelming but outstanding. There are many places to ear and bars. Walking along the river was wonderful. The old town with its narrow streets it's quirky buildings and it's restaurants make great day out. Not for champagne though but still this old town with quirky buildings an narrow alleyways was a great pitstop. Very friendly en helpful staff. Above that, Troyes is a lovely ancient with a rich historical background. Perfect place for a stop over between Calais and Geneva I hesitate to write this review as this lovely may be one of the area’s best kept secrets! I have lost count of the number of times I have driven past on the autoroute completely unaware of this delightful medieval city. It has everything - great museums, restored timber framed houses, squares filled with cafés and restaurants, churches with spectacular stained glass and - so far - it is not overwhelmed by tourists. The staff are so lovely and sweet! Carole was so kind to me and helped me work out what options would be the best priced for me. She specially rang up museums to check if I could enter for a reduced rate as I am under 26. Lovely tourist office that made me feel welcome. I highly recommend the walking audio guide tour. It makes me wonder why europe's funds have zero influence on the terrifiing downfall of the medievel of troyes, its been 4 years sinds we last visit the city, but today ,we saw ,what i think, can only be the beginning of an irreversible situation of degree.
