The bathrooms were clean, the kitchen was very small with only one washing station, there is no playground or anything. The individual sites have electricity and are nice and level. We did go for a nice walk along the river to Steinkjer center, which has a lovely playground, with slides and swings and climbing obstacles. All in all, a pleasant place to stay. A perfect campingsite for a cheap price in Steinkjer. Would recommend it for others aswell. We stopped by this camping site for one night, the camping site is nice and flat. Easy to drive in and out. Many spots available we could choose from. Easy access to water and electricity. Didn't use the facilities, but close by. Simple but clean & well organized campground with all you need & a lot of space for tents, away enough from the RVs. I got here late, tho, & put up my tent right near the reception (pics July 17, 2023): Maybe ask the friendly reception folks for the route & trails to the Ogndalsfjella in the southeastern part of Steinkjer municipality, which—according to Wikipedia—is supposed to be the geographical midpoint of mainland Norway, located at 63°59′26″N/12°18′28″E. Note also that the Kystriksveien, Fv17, to Bodø begins in Steinkjer. If you choose this route, you'll pass through Brønneøysund, which claims to be Norway's midpoint as well. But this seems to be more of an informal claim pertaining rather to their official tourism slogan of Brønneøysund being the 'Coastal Town in the Middle of Norway.' I'm not sure what this really means, but it seems it pertains to the road kilometers South to North—that's at least what their sign says (pics July 24, 2023), without specifying, however, what roads exactly they've measured. Fun fact (a): Method. Harald Stavestrand of the Norwegian Mapping & Cadastre Authority, when searching for the balancing point of mainland Norway (excluding the overseas areas of Svalbard & Jan Mayen, disregarding also elevation etc.), had feared that the center would turn out to be in Sweden due to the curved shape of Norway, but luckily it ended up within the borders of Norway (Wikipedia, accessed Dec 9, 2023, ~16:30 CET). Fun fact (b): Competition. There's apparently a happy competition about the claim of being Norway's center point, using differing methods. Other such places include Harran in the of Grong (halving the mainland by its northern- & southernmost latitudes), the village of Vilhelmina in the of Vilhelmina/Sweden (halving the great-circle distance), Grane Church in the of Grane & Alstahaug Church in the of Alstahaug (both by halving longer great circle distances), and finally Mosjøen in the of Vefsn (Wikipedia, accessed Dec 9, 2023, ~16:30 CET). But we had to pay 200NKR for the Desinfection of the hytter!!????? That is absolutely impossible in times of Covid-a no go. We had luck, because we had our own desinfectionmatial with us!!!!!
