The Darsena marks the historic junction of Milan’s two main canals: the Naviglio Grande and Naviglio Pavese. Often referred to simply as the Darsena di Milano, it functioned as the port of the Navigli canal system, with a basin approximately 750 meters long and 1.5 meters deep. Its origins date back to the 12th century as a system of monastic and agricultural waterways. In 1603, under Spanish governor Pedro Enríquez de Acevedo (Count of Fuentes), the was redeveloped into a functioning commercial harbor. From the 17th to 19th centuries, the Darsena was crucial for transporting goods such as marble for the Duomo, grain, wine, bricks, and firewood. It remained an active freight port well into the 20th century, with the final commercial barge departing in 1979. Ahead of Expo 2015, the Darsena underwent a major renovation and was reborn as a vibrant waterfront hub. Found the quite underwhelming. It was dead vibes when we came. The restaurants all looked really shabby and shady. Not worth a visit, only if you have time, come by this side. Great place to hang out very nice darsena, navigli both for a walk and aperitivo. worth going This small pond has its historical roots in roman times, when water ways were the main ways to supply Mediolanum, ancient Milano, with goods from all Europe. The present water reservoir is just kept as landscape element. Obviously popular, surrounded by tens of bars & bistros, has its highs & lows during decades. It is worth a look in any case. Such a beautiful place. Lots of bars, restaurant, people are coming from all over the city. But you'll need to be careful with your bags. There are a lots of theft of course and pick pocket. Apart that, ambiance is wonderful Great location, nice food and staff. Big on Gin! But we decided to have prosecco Great on canal for drinks, dinner Uno dei posti più belli di Milano A favorite place where locals hangout in Milan. Lots of bars and restaurants, lots of public spaces and a beautiful sunset. Great view and so many bistro.. Super Milano vale Unexpected view for Milano. Very lively area, still not as much as the Navigli, Just behind the quai Good place to visit and lots of good restaurants nearby Visiting first time Milan, we were excited for the boat tour also but it disappointed us. As it was nothing special, we enjoyed the evening walk and booked the boat tour for the next morning. Paying 19€ each doesn’t worth it (I am sorry). Tourist be careful they steal bags, mostly phones or wallets !!!Now they even close the bar that was in the darsena for years because the is gettin more danger. Locals literally avoid that zone plus is gettin more dirty with graffitti and trash Every week it's a new story of "stealing with knife "if you been stolen please report to the police I hope they can start doing something after many tourist complains. I used to live in the and its sad to see what this pleasant place is becoming, especially at night I personally don't recommend to hang out alone ,theres no security, no police, and the cleaning service it's getting worse ,if you visit better with sun light ,or go with care and be careful of not italian people over there Best place in milan for having a beer Quite happening place in milan. On weekends many people enjoy fishing and kayaking.
