Beautiful Reservoir, unfortunately hydrologically dead (2023/24). The scarcity can be experienced best when you visit this place yearly like we do. However the region around is wonderful for getting a clear head, hike and bike around. My photos don’t do it justice. However it is sad to see how low the water levels are due to the long period of dry weather. Definitely worth a visit regardless! A place you have to see. Just half an hour inland from the coast nestled in a large and beautiful valley you will find Lake Vinuela. It is reservoir in an area known as the Axarquia. There are great views to be had, lovely walks by the lake and plenty of good places to rest for a drink or food. Restaurants, bars, local villages and the excellent Hotel La Vinuela are all close by. If you are exploring Andalusia do not miss this lovely spot just north of Malaga. Fantastic reservoir but very low on water. Lots of quiet off road acces points . And great for novice kayaking like us A-MA-ZING There's lovely view from all the way around the lake and there's an activity centre right on the water were you can kayak pedalo and more!
