A cozy little cafe/ gourmet store run by a friendly couple. It is a small yet beautiful cafe serving Greek food. The couple were welcoming and friendly. They also sell olive oils, tomato sauce, tea, jam, rock salt, biscotti etc. The price is reasonable. They have outdoor seats. Quiet nice to sit there under the sun and watch the people passing by. Recommended. After a cosy trip with the boat from Aker Brygge we were indulgence with this pearl of a restaurant/Kaffe. The menu is focused on Mediterranean and a bit Italian but the gyros is one of the most authentic I've ever tried. This will be our top 3 restaurants to revisit. Everything on our plate tasted fresh, tomatoes which Norway is not known for were delicious and the meat was delicious, soft and well seasoned. Hyggelig kafé som er søndagsåpent :) Unfortunately, the service and the deceiving menu leaves a lot to be desired. First of all, the staff didn’t know what they had. Every single thing we tried to order the response was: “We don’t know if we have it, let me check.” Given the small size of the menu, having control of what’s available and not shouldn’t pose such hardships. Second, the menu lists multiple bottles of wine but we were prohibited from buying because “the only had boxes, so you can get a glass”. However, when I went to the bathroom I saw that our wine was poured from a bottle. Blatant lie. We will be back when the staff is more professional and bottles of wine can be purchased. Update: having seen the response of the venue, I’m shocked at their inability to accept constructive critique. Whether the staff are adults or school girls is irrelevant. What is relevant is the service this business yields. And by the way, age is not excuse for mediocracy. Plenty of young part time trainee staff around Europe offer a superior service. I urge you to improve, rather than provide endless excuses. Lovely family place for a quick lunch or even a nice dinner. I want to renew my 5 stars again. Not only the service and ambience are 5 stars, but also the top quality products they have. From sunny seats outside, where you can enjoy a glass of white, the perfect coffee and pastry, the italian and greek products on shelf. We have now made 2 birthday parties with Elea's greek food take away and we (Elea!) impressed our guests with their greek salads, meatballs, tzatziki with pita bread, spinach pie, etc. We will always come back! What I mostly love of this wonderful cafe is not only the quality of the homemade food (it's beyond delicious), the cozy atmosphere but in particular it's friendly staff and the amazing owner that totally make you feel at home 💚. What a delightful surprise going out for a coffee at Elea and find out about the new management, looks like the venue is living a second life, everything from the fresh salads to the juicy pies down to the amazing italian gelato is simply outstanding. The lovely new owner simply rocks as a host and I just can't wait to try out a dinner at Elea, heard amazing stories about the wine and food package. Excellent mix between Greek and Italian cuisine. The porchetta was to die for, the focaccia was homemade and the sauce binding the two was not dominating the taste, perfect balance. The pasqualina pie was amazing too - very close to greek pies while the spinach was fresh! Will go back for more!!!!!
