An amazingly different museum. The building is a restored and converted convent. The history of the area is beautifully captured and displayed in a fascinating and modern way. Really impressed after the poor display of the upkeep of the castle. Very nice place, a modern home for ancient treasures. Upper floor is a modern art part, unfortunately the sign "absence" wasn't switched on, but overall the experience is definitely worth coming. There's a nice Christmas fair going these days right in front of the museum, you can spend a great holidays here ✨✨✨ MIA (Iberian Museum) is a brand new with a collection ranging from Prehistory to Modern age, presenting nice objects, artefacts and sculptures, selected in the context of the Iberian Peninsula. It is not an overwhelming and it can be visited in about one hour, if you want to take just a general impression. Also amazing are the specific collections of contemporary Art and the beautiful “Maria Lucília Moita” paintings. The building is an old convent subject to a smart refurbishment. The offers a lot to visit. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Totally worth it! Lovely in the centre of Abrantes, well restored interesting old convent with an eclectic collection of antiquities and art including a couple of rooms of temporary modern art collections, well worth the entrance fee 👍👍👍 A seriously interesting pieces in a well designed museum. The first time I saw a Visigothic falcon; the only one in Europe?? The most famous pair is in San Francisco. There are other equally interesting items. Highly recommended I'll give it 5 stars as the place is great and the expositions are picked tastefully (At least I really enjoyed the temporary exposition). The staff was kind and made sure to check with us if we're first timers. They explained the optimal route, exits and gave us panflets with details about every exposition. My only complaint is the terrible harsh lighting and the insane use of the air conditioner on a perfectly nice day. They have a beautiful courtyard that's unfortunately inclosed with glass walls Sensational converted building. Stunning permanent collection of artifacts and art. Edgy rotating contemporary art exhibitions.
