Hiking Trail "Brgučka korita" - Nature Park "Učka"

Korita are located on the Ćićarija mountain, below the Brajkov peak, and above the village of Brgudac. The village is at 747m above sea level. From the village it moves towards Korita. The path is beautifully decorated. The first part of the is rocky, leading through dense deciduous forest. After about fifteen minutes of walking the forest is becoming less frequent, the deciduous gives way to the conifer. The ascent is quite steep, and it takes about 45 minutes to walk along the marked path. Korita are located on a meadow at 1010 m under the cliff of Brajkov Rock at 1092 m and consist of ten massive wooden troughs at the foot of which is a larger pond rich in plant and animal life. Formerly, the troughs used to feed the livestock, and on the teaching board it also says that, women used to carry drinking water even to Brgudac. Next to the is a resting place with a beautiful view of the Učka mountain massif, and clearly visible antenna and tower on Vojak peak. Educational panels were also erected to talk about the cultural and natural significance of this place, and the flora and fauna. Not far from the there is a mountain hut "Na Koritima", which offers accommodation and a mountain meal at the weekend. Uspon iz Brgudca nije zahtjevan te nudi više varijanta (kratka ali strmija staza, ili duži i blaži put). Na vrhu se nalazi Brajkova stijena sa predivnim pogledom, a ispod nje drvena korita sa hladnom izvorskom vodom. Nedaleko od izvora se nalazi planinarski dom koji je otvoren vikendom, ili po dogovoru. Interesting and nice place telling the story about history and agricultural tradition of the area. Even though the weather was bad, we had a nice time and the view was gorgeus. Worth visiting! Was hard to get here but views are nice Easy and accessible, well marked paths suitable for families with kids. There is a natural near the PD Korita, so you can replenish your water supplies. Going from there there are few nearby peaks within a hour of hiking. One can do a round trip all the way, we went down via a beautiful meadow and then through the woods to Korita hut and Korita and down to Brgudac. The mountainside trails through the pines are pretty and the clearing at the top under the rocky peak is out of a storybook: the multi-tiered water troughs, the natural and the views of the neverending treetops. We hiked end of September, 22C, windy at the top. We parked in Brgudac next to the Studenac water house. The begins on the left. At 200m. there is a stone sign on the left marking the beginning of one of the trails to Korita. It is a steep, constant ascent. We’re middle-aged, average shape and made it in an hour. Not extreme, but not easy. There is another trail, if you don’t turn left after 200m, you keep walking on the road for 15 minutes. At the wooden signpost on the left, turn left. The first 30 minutes is a steep ascent, but after it’s a more level ascent, going through occassional grassy meadows. You arrive between the and the Korita hut. This is easier than the first.
