Café Wagner has a long history and a location right by the sea, which makes it one of the iconic spots in Opatija. The atmosphere is charming and elegant. Definitely worth experiencing once for the setting. In terms of food and drinks, however, our expectations were not fully met. The cakes did not appear particularly fresh, and the coffee was average. A cappuccino costs €6, which feels more in line with the premium location than with the quality. was friendly, though sometimes a little unpolished, especially with the younger staff. For our son we ordered crêpes (€8), which came with chocolate sauce. Unfortunately they were a bit too greasy and not quite what we had hoped for. Overall: a place to visit for its historic flair and sea view, but less so if you are looking for outstanding coffee or patisserie. The prices reflect the ambience rather than the quality. Cake Sacher was absolutely not similar to original and Kremšnita was ok, but not that good quality either. was ok, but we have to wait quite long time to pay so we paid at the bar. Very expensive restaurant and café. Still water 0,75l was 9€. Cake costs 7€. Sea view is very very nice. Very friendly and gentle staff members. We felt very welcome, especially the welcome lady Nika, who takes care of the wellbeing of the guests. Great selection of cakes, ice cream, and drinks in a environment. We will come back. Great late summer ambiance, but the cakes were not fresh. Initially we thought we were just unlucky, but this is said by many others reviewers. We tried similar cakes elsewhere, at your average bakery and they were super fresh for days after we took them home. So I can't understand how they get those krempitas so wrong. Today I went with my two children to one of the most cafés in Opatija – “Wagner” – just to buy some chocolate candies. Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be completely opposite to the café’s appearance.🥶 Not a single waiter paid any attention to us, and no one greeted us. We waited for quite a while before anyone even acknowledged our presence. A waiter walked past us carrying an order and didn’t even glance our way – as if we simply didn’t exist. I understand that they might have been busy or tired, but a simple “Hello, I’ll be with you shortly” is basic customer service. When a waitress finally approached, the only thing she said was: “Take whatever you want yourself and bring it to the counter.” No smile, no polite words. The payment process – just the card terminal handed to me. No “thank you,” no “goodbye.” When we were leaving, I said “goodbye” loudly, and my children also said “goodbye” loudly, but three waiters stood just a meter away, continued their conversation, and didn’t bother to respond. Such treatment completely ruins the impression. Advice to the management: either pay your staff more so they have the motivation to work with a smile, or provide them with training in basic customer service. Because there is no desire to return to such a place. And that’s a shame, because the chocolates were truly delicious. Stunning location but the service, food and overpriced 9.50 EUR water ruined the experience. We stopped by as it looked magical. The setting is lovely. Not one person to ask about the table. We sat down and waited forever to be served. Extremely slow service. Most of the time they walk pass and ignore your presence. We ordered food and we were very disappointed with the food quality. We stayed very close to the hotel and I'm sure we would visit numerous times but the experience was so bad that unfortunately we won't. Such a shame to have a great potential with stunning view and money spend on the property and ruined by incompetent staff, overpriced water and poor quality food. I came with my girlfriend to get a coffee and a cake. The atmosphere, the view and was amazing. We ordered small macchiato, a cake and a cappuccino. But the problem was that the coffee was roasted too much and it wasn’t tasty. Also the cake was so waterish. Okay i dont know maybe that is how that specific cake should be but another problem that bothered me was that it had small pieces of shells, maybe walnut or something else. We were for the first time here, and I can say its a must have place for visit if you are going to Opatija. You will have best very very kind staff and amazing food and drinks. The atmosphere was PERFECT. I am coming for sure again. atmosphere is beautiful, very nice for day and night. amazing location by the beach. waitress Nika was extremely sweet and helpful, overall is very welcoming and kind. 😁 This cafe blows me away every time! But this time, apart from the cafe itself I have to highlight, I think her name is Mrs. Svetlana, who served us. She was incredibly pleasant and made us feel very welcome. Everything was excellent and well organized. We enjoyed our drinks outside on a autumn day. ☕️ Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
