Historic old pub this one, probably the most famous Joey Holt's pub as it's where the used to live. Does food, has a lot of facilities like parking, Sky Sports, outside terrace, as well as rooms for those staying over. It's also yet another Prestwich pub with links to The Fall - Ghost in my House video was filmed here back in the 80s. Nice place to stay, food poor ,nice bar, helpful and but NOT THE KITCHEN STAFF.Do not go here if you have allergies they were told two weeks before and reminded on the day BUT THE KITCHEN TOTALLY MESSED UP wouldn't recommend this place if you have allergies I attended a friend's birthday here and was not impressed, the food wasn't very and the were rude. With one telling us we had to hurry with our as they had another party coming and they needed the tables. They seriously need to get some training in customer service, I wouldn't recommend this place. The Woodthorpe Hotel isn't just a pub—it's a piece of Manchester's brewing heritage. Built in the 19th century, it was once the home of Sir Edward Holt, son of Joseph Holt, the founder of the renowned Joseph Holt Brewery. Sir Edward played a pivotal role in expanding the brewery and was instrumental in philanthropic efforts, including establishing the Holt Radium Institute in 1914, which later became part of The Christie Hospital. Today, The Woodthorpe retains much of its original charm, with period features that echo its storied past. The pub offers a range of Joseph Holt's ales, including their classic Bitter and award-winning lagers. The menu features hearty pub classics, and the spacious beer garden is a highlight during warmer months. For those looking to stay overnight, the hotel provides comfortable rooms that blend traditional decor with modern amenities. Located opposite Heaton Park, it's an ideal spot for both locals and visitors seeking a taste of Manchester's rich brewing history. location and food for a price. Pleasant service on bar and waiters. Very noisy as full but quietened of later, not restaurant fault but be aware if looking for a quiet romantic meal. OK, I've not been here for at least 35 years. But felt I'd come h9me it's still a warm feeling when you enter. are brilliant food was good. Its a place for a quiet night out We went for a meal. 4 adults. Food was OK. Parking was great, lots of tables outside for the sunshine. It's just difficult to get to when there is an event on at Heaton Park. Fell upon this place on our way to Heaton Park to see Oasis. It was a pre-party Oasis gig if you like. Free bucket hats plenty of beer and burgers and hot dogs and was a really vibe. were all brill and friendly. Met some friends who travelled that morning and a place to meet up and go see the boys. Thanks for making a day even better..... Cheers 👍 Gorgeous hotel. helpful bar staff. food and welcoming locals. We will stay here if we are using Msncgester airport in the future. We had booked the Travel lodge on this occasion but much prefer here and worth the additional cost Had a with in the restaurant. Had meatball flatbread and shared a side of dirty fries...the meatballs were but the dirty fries stole the show for me! There'd been an issue with the table reservation but the were and got us seated quickly. Would go again for sure! Stayed overnight midweek, super king bedroom, very clean comfy bed bathroom and linens all spotless, welcome tray and kettle was super clean too. Nice decor my only criticism is that as it such a big another chair would be as 1 chair 2 people not ideal. We had a pleasant in the bar and the looked after us very well indeed, our bags were carried up to our on arrival which was very helpful The actual place, is very nice, over-all. But... the Curry looks no-better than a budget Tesco Ready Meal. Straight from a fridge pack. And at £15.45 (w/drink); it's value looks more like £5.99 deal. ⭐️☆☆☆☆ Went to a reception here. The was helpful and and we enjoyed ourselves. They have a little garden area that leads off the room. The only thing that let's it down is the disabled toilets was a fair distance to get too from the room. serving and polite can’t fault the ladies 5 stars Visited today told 30 min wait that turned into over 1 hour and as I’m pregnant after a longggger than expected wait started to feel dizzy. I asked the how much longer as we had waited an extra 30 mins then expected and they said they would put it through asap given my situation as we was 4 left in the queue so was going to be an even longer wait had I not said anything. 0 stars Food came out and was ok but the flatbread was burnt maybe as they rushed it through so didn’t eat. Shame as £50 is a lot of money to throw away. 2 stars Been here before and had nice food think it’s hit and miss depending on time of day service at the pub ❤️ Came here for the first time after 8pm and (unaware) we were looking at the food menu and a member that noticed this, came straight away to inform us very politely that the kitchen had already closed and saved us the disappointment before choosing the food 😅 Looking forward to trying their delicious looking dishes next time! Had a time anyway with just drinks 🥰 I've been to The Woodthorpe several times for either a or drink and never been disappointed. It has a nice warm atmosphere. So it made sense to book the function when I needed the right place for and friends to gather after a funeral. They did not disappoint. The was perfect, had it's own private entrance and bar. It was clean and bright and even had a garden at the back. There was plenty of choice for the buffet and it was all reasonably priced and presented. The really looked after us and I'm so pleased. I'd recommend it for any occasion, wedding, birthday, Christening etc. Plenty of parking space and proximity to the motorway network are an added bonus. We visited as it was dog & after visiting Heaton park on a Saturday afternoon. The dog area definitely needs tables that fits more than 3. Little round tables not when we were squeezed together. A selection of food. Appealing. The food took 1hr to arrive. Was delicious full of flavour risotto.presented well. The place is under staffed. A few tweaks and they could gain the 5 star 🌟 I wanted to say a big thanks to the management team for helping out the BBC That’s absolutely no notice when we were doing news reporting in the area. Special thanks to the manager who granted his permission to work. Also, what a fantastic pub we’re definitely coming back here, but not when we’re working Thanks Why are you making customers on the way to Oasis empty and bin water bottles to get into a pub on one of the hottest days of the year when Heaton park will allow people in. It is 30 plus degrees, at least let customers keep empty bottles. Nice place. Nice outdoor area. However. We ordered schnitzel but what we got wasn't schnitzel but merely a coated chicken breast. Disappointing A friend and myself had lunch there Friday 16th May both meals were awful! My friends so called home maid cheese pie wasn’t homemade and the chips were cold! I had the fish cakes with egg. Fish cakes greasy the horseradish sauce in edible and the salad also in edible as it was also served on the very hot plate! Woodthorpe use to be one of my favourite places to eat but never again! I went today and had six small plates with my mum. I am a bit of a foodie the pork belly was exceptional and the rest was really good. Very value. Will go again very soon. lovely.
