A must see and taste We came to Pri Baronu without any big expectations, just hoping to find some good, traditional Slovenian food. We left completely blown away and already planning to come back! The meal started with a fantastic Christmas "schnapps" (low alcohol level), followed by delicious beef and zucchini soups, this was part of our seasonal 5-course menu. The warm appetizer was absolutely amazing, and every dish in the main course was just as impressive. Everything was packed with flavor, made with top-quality ingredients, and beautifully presented. The cozy atmosphere, incredible food, and the host's genuine friendliness made the whole experience unforgettable. Honestly, this was one of the best Slovenian meals we’ve had in years—and we eat out a lot! We’ll definitely be back. Highly, highly recommend! An absolutely amazing experience. My partner had been following their instagram page for a while, so much so that she started obsessing with wanting to try it out. Of course, we did. We did book in advance; I'd say 4 or 5 days in advance - all tables were taken, so we definitely suggest to make a reservation rather than just driving up, especially since it seems to be rather popular with the locals also - this in itself is already enough proof of how good it is. We went for the 5 course + wine pairing option. We weren't quite sure what to expect as regards to portions, but let's say that we left the place on an overly full tank...! :) First course was an antipasto salad with a slice of bread, homemade salami and paste. Second course were 2 soups - amazing ; we had a zucchini soup and a broth with homemade pasta. Third was beef with a homemade chutney, carrots and spelt polenta with young cheese. Forth was a feast - pork, chicken, turkey, kale frittatas (kind of like a quiche), pudding, mashed potatoes (super yummy!) and some other veggies Dessert was Gibanica, a mix of a pancake and omelette like consistancy/taste paired with a sweet sauce/jam. We also had some nice wines paired with each meal, and also honey brandy / blueberry shnapps on arrival. Value for money is impeccable, almost a steal considering the organic produce and the honest food on the plate. It felt like we went to someone's home for local cuisine; to that point, it felt authentic. Owners are really lovely. A must visit! Pity we only discovered it now, but we'll be returning soon, hopefully when family is over to visit us! We went here for curiosity and trip was worth it. The night before we booked a table and the vegetarian lunch via their website. They use locally sourced and organic ingredients and offer traditional Slovenian food. Everything, from appetizers to dessert, was delicious. The staff was super friendly and explained the various courses and dishes.
