Nunca habia visto un lobo en estado "salvaje" y por suerte vimos 4, nuestra guía fue bastante amable y disfrute cada momento de la experiencia, al comienzo de tan una charla introductoria dónde aprendes la ecología del animal y ves huesos entre otras cosas, luego caminas alrededor de 1.5km para ver los lobos, son los sábados se reserva online y para 4 personas son 36 euros. Excellent place. Just saw a couple of before we had to finish at night. Guide interesting, friendly and approachable. Watch out for entry roads. Such great people, doing great work. One word of warning. If you are coming from Mafra on the back road, and following Google maps, do NOT take the dirt road! We did, and it was like a horror movie! But when we finally arrived, an hour late, we were given a wonderful tour. Very disappointed. On the Web site they said 20 wolves. When we got there only 8, apparently. We saw one wolf. We heard a recording in the distance of a howl, which was supposed to be a wolf. I could be wrong but been to Parks before. ???? Lovely guide but.... Very good reserve for the Iberian wolves. We saw quite a few different whilst there, I think 6 in total but I'm told sometimes you can go and not see a thing... They run tours in English on Saturday & Sunday evenings @ 6pm and if in the area its a must visit attraction. Its not that easy to find at first but definitely worth the effort. Take a drink and comfortable shoes as it's approx 2hrs of on/off walking. Great place.to go and learn about the Iberian and the importance of it to the ecosystem. Fully enclosed, animal first center with great staff. Fully recommend a visit and helping out the center. What a lovely experience with such a diverse array of fauna. The grounds are easy to navigate and greenery in abundance. An aversion towards some of the cramped confines of some of the larger animals. The only real bone of contention was one of the front ticket office ladies, who was incredibly rude and inflexible with my father who is 73 by the way. Where he lives they don't issue I.D cards and on the internet there is no disclaimer highlighting the requirement to carry one as proof of age. Yet in her insolent demeanor she would not even consider the fact that he flagrantly was in his 70s... Something to which other Mediterranean nations; the likes of Italy, Greece etc., would have easily accommodated and waived. A fantastic experience and saw 2 wolves. There are indeed only 8 here and their happiness seems to be paramount. They aren't overcrowded and have enclosures of at least a hectare. They stress this isn't a zoo so you may or may not have a sighting...we were rewarded at the end of the walk and it was magical. The location is stunning. Our volunteer guide Anna was charming, knowledgeable, spoke excellent English and was open to all our questions. We couldn't get our 6.3m campervan up the steep narrow lanes so left it in the village and walked the last Km. Great value for €10 p/p Highly recommend for a unique experience. Volunteered here a few years ago! Loved every second of it! 5 stars for an amazing cause! What a great place. I have to say we were incredibly lucky as we saw 5 of the 10 for ages. I know some visitors struggle to see any. They came incredibly close to us. They were interacting with each other. One of them was being told off by his family. Ana our guide was so interesting and knowledgeable and has a real passion for these wonderful animals. Great and beautiful place to visit! Although we didn't have luck to see any and that's normal, it's not a zoo and the have their stuff to do :), our volunteer guide Ana was amazing: knowledgeable, available for any questions and very friendly.
