It's probably the busiest period, so get ready to be waiting a bit before getting seated. However, it is well worth it. We have been welcomed by the chef de salle, a loud, energetic, and friendly man. The is small, cute, and lively; a bit of Italian style. We liked it! We took 4 "tartes flambées"; 2 standards & 2 vegans. All were great: it was the best of the one we have tried in Alsace. There was a lot of effort in the ones as well. Top notch! The offers many deserts made by a local artisan in Colmar. Those were fabulous. We highly recommend this place. The food was great, and the service was fast and friendly and venue charming. The location is great—close to everything, but still peaceful and not too busy thanks to its hidden spot. The food was really good, with some solid vegetarian as well. We were encouraged by the website asking diners to communicate their allergies and the inclusion of a gf bun alternative in the menu, however our was awful. First, our server seemed bothered to have to go through the to tell us what were gluten free. She hurriedly pointed at a few things, then asked if it was a preference or if my daughter was going to actually break out in hives (which is clearly an indication she has no idea what celiac disease and gluten intolerance really is). When I said it was an illness, she said something to the effect of “well, it’s not like she’s going to die, right?” She continued to be hurried, not offering any assistance and only being interested in us finally placing an order. Very rude and dismissive throughout. In our experience, France is behind many other countries in their understanding and treatment of serious food allergies, but it's even more disappointing when a claims to be gluten friendly and their staff clearly is not equipped to deal patiently and accurately with these requirements. It was unfortunately a very unpleasant and disheartening experience, especially for my daughter who after that interaction, couldn’t trust that what the waitress pointed out would actually be safe or not.
