Great place for a small hike. Place is well maintained and outdoor museum is very nice (small but nice) This river valley/gorge is an amazing place for a hike. The is open May 1 until October 31. It’s about 2 hours drive from Vienna. In the heat of summer this place is a natural air conditioner! The icy water and the narrow gorge keep the cool and comfy. It’s 3.2 km from the parking lot on the east side through the park to the west exit. The first bit on the east side is quite steep but can be avoided. Just take the L6179 road to the west edge and park and enter there. The hike will only be about 2.5 km each way but you can avoid the hill. At the west end is Herrenhaus, a very good restaurant. The owners lease is up and he’ll be opening a new in Göstling soon but someone else will surely take over the herrenhaus soon. Trout farm within the park also fun to see. The serves this fresh organic trout and it’s excellent. Next time you need to beat the summer heat head out to this area for a few days. Really nice walk(6km both ways), not difficult, small waterfalls, It's good also for small children, you can rest in the shadow and put legs in to the water, in the end is with good food. A great place for a hike! Interesting information to read about the logging days, and also facts along the way about the route. An amazing natural combined with educational historic information. Trail length - a bit more than 3km (circular is 6km, you simply go back on the same path). One direction can take 40 minutes if you walk really fast. Or even 2 hours if you're with kids and are stopping to examine everything. You may start from parkplatz 1 or parkplatz 3. Either way there are some 600 meters until you reach the actual trail. These 500-600 meters are the only somehow accessible path for strollers and wheelchairs (for the latter you better start from parkplatz 3). The information on the shows how woodworking and iron processing was done hundreds of years ago, using the power of the water! The follows a small river, that flows into an artificial lake with a wooden dam. It is partially in shade. You will go through an alluvial forest on the way. There is a kids playground and a place to buy some ice cream right next to the entrance from parkplatz1. There is a near the entrance from parkplatz3. The cash desk near P3 might be unstaffed, and I am not sure whether the nearby, that you are redirected to, can handle the wilde wunder cards well. All in all, very beautiful and recommended, especially not on Sundays! nice and quite long trail, maybe the parking lot is bit far away from the entrance, so you need to walk around 1 km till you reach the starting point close to the river Super trail. Wooden rivers. The child really liked it. There is a cafe at the end of the trail, you can eat, eat ice cream. It took us about 3 hours. Beautiful hiking area for the whole family. Cashier is a very friendly lady, pets are very much welcome.
