This is a nice cold war museum. A nice and decent paced with a great guide, he knew a lot and was very enthusiastic about the history. Unfortunately the wasn't in English, but when he noticed we spoke English he was fast at offering information in English for us and answering our questions. It's a very beautiful place and has a view of the sea from the top. Also the seemed very nice and had a perfect location to relax after the tour. Beware, the road from the ferry (which is free btw) to the actual museum is a quality stone/dirt road, otherwise perfect place! Hemsö Fästning is a tourist destination with a fantastic guided and a fresh restaurant. The feels clean and there is an open climate in the dining room and there are clean toilets. The view are amazing and they have absolutely ok food there and there are reasonable prices. Top notch! Cold war era coastal-artillery left "as is" as it was the day it closed. Our professional and friendly guide Alfons was very knowledgeable even though he was very young. Nerdy just like me. We had a time. Ate a very lunch at their with an amazing view afterwards. 5 of 5, would recommend! An interesting look back at the cold war defense of Sweden. Knowledgeable and interested guides. Beautifully situated with food and desserts. The in the mountain is significantly colder than the outside, so bring a light sweater. I didn't take the guided but the stuff outside are quite cool and interesting. I would recommend getting a guide because then you get to know more about this place and get to go inside the bunker. Geat place, beautiful island, huge complex to explore, with hands-on cold war era military equipment. We came all the way from 🇨🇿 to visit. Our guide, Achilles, was friendly, and told us everything in detail. The island is easy to get to with a free ferry. Thanks, Achilles, we will come again for sure! 💯 The guided was good! Really recommend taking it, it's cool walking inside the old bunker and getting a glimpse into how it was back then. But... The at the end? I cannot recommend it any less... The "buffet" consists of knäckebröd in a big bowl so you know someone has been digging through it to find a piece with their hands that have just been touching a bunch of stuff in the bunker, sallad, cooked potatoes, mine were even slightly cold in the middle and chicken that was actually quite good. The "bbq" sauce is just tomato sauce. The tray i was given had old dried sauce and salad bits on it, disgusting, makes me wonder how thorough they are with cleaning other dishes... Great place, nice view and a lot of historical information. The guide is very nice and are quite knowledgeable about the ins and out of the fortress. A very place to visit as a military and weapons nerd or just for how swedish military is during the cold war.
