Very grounds. A tribute to those caring for the place. lofty interior reminiscent of French churchs. One of the finest Cathedrals in all Ireland. Holy water has been replaced with holy hand sanitiser, now that’s what I call progress. Impressive high on a hill with fabulous views of surrounding area. Lots of stained glass. I thought it was worth a visit and it didnt let me down. A cathedral, excellent choir.Well worth a visit if in Monaghan. stone work needs a good tidy up outside and a good power wash on the front steps inside in main Chapel it's well maintained , some work going on at present will finish well. Guest at a splendid wedding, a relaxed, cosy Christian service. The harmony of the string quartet echoed so beautifully within the walls. Great Another fantastic example of neogothic in Ireland. The setting and the grounds are beautiful, though it is a little of an anti climax upon entering as the newish interior clashes heavily with the old. This is an absolutely cathedral. The roof construction is similar to old long boats, with wooden slits, and huge decorated wooden buttresses. The stained glass windows are very detailed and incredibly beautiful. There's lots of stunning plasterwork and sculptured stone. There's an amazing modern piece behind the altar. Wonderful to experience it A in a most imposing location. Our son was married there recently and it was a wonderful experience. Always puts the hair standing on my neck because it's so spiritual and amazing to enter. Lovely to visit and attend a ceremony.
