A very pleasant place to stop in, meet friend. The food is great and good in all weather as the outside decking is lovely in the summer. With a few things to do there, make it a place on your list to stop in. Beautiful and clean lake Nice place. Good to learn about history i the wood industi This is a secret pearl. Though going from better to worse. The construction of the main road ruined this place a lot. But it still worth visiting. There are some activities and museums around. Nice place to roam around this place after crossing the border. This place is good for holiday because you can come to enjoy nice weather on the vacation like summer time and the forest around there is good for walk, run and... later you also can find a lots of mushrooms such as chanterelle.. this forest call Jonsvansveien 383 Ørje. The way to run around 10 km and you also can enjoy with lak. Stunning! Staying in Oslo we were looking for day trips. We decided to go to the border with Sweden and just by chance stopped here. What a good find. We spent around 2hours here and really enjoyed ourselves. Definitely worth a visit on its own. Parking is plenty and free. First thing we went to was the dam. It had been raining heavily recently and the dam was open and water was gushing out with force creating lots of spray and noise. It was like being up close to a major waterfall. Everyone really enjoyed the experience. Kids then played for a little while in the play ground and went to see the chickens and goats. We then walked along and on to the locks and then spent a little while at the small beach and pier with really beautiful/serene views including the large fountain. It was very quiet with only one other family who were swimming in the lake. We had lunch at the local grill (Butt's). Which was very nice food and halal. And not overpriced considering the location. The owner was very friendly. Highly recommended. So very nice afternoon just by chance. Beautiful landscape and place to rest. Parking for campervans. Worth a quick stop when passing by. Cool for the kids to see a boat migrating up the river. Manually operated lock.
