Drive straight up and soak in the panoramic 🏔🏔🏔🏔 Nice visit by car of this which allows a circular view (360 degree) on many different lakes (e.g. Lago Maggiore, Lago d’Orta). If you go up from the Orta side there is no toll road. There are few places for drinks and food up there but most people will anyway go for the view. It is nice for just one day trip from Milano city to the mottarone mountain. The best trip to get there is by car or moto, bike. Will take a while but it is valuable for the view. Better to take care the sunblock item when the weather is good. Enjoy and have fun! By the way the ticket for car will be 10 euros and moto for 7 euros. We went up the a few times and we enjoyed the views. The trip up is easy by car and there are a lot of options once you arrived. There are a few different hiking paths and 2 dinners. Just make sure you have some propper footwear. I come here to take the roller coaster. To my surprise, the landscape on the top of the is fantastic. From the peak, I can see two lakes in different sides, Lago Maggiore in the east and Lago d'Orta in the west. I come in the end of April. The mountains in the far view are still covered by snow. It is really beautiful. I will try to come here again during summer time. With all the ground covered by green, I think the scenery could be even better. The only weak point here is that the strength of mobile phone signals is really weak. Sometimes I feel I am disconnected from the world. Anyway, this place is worth to visit. Especially for the ones who loves hiking, skiing, roller coaster and beautiful landscapes. Some of the best are to be seen at the top of the Mottarone! 7 lakes, Milan on one side and Switzerlands highest peaks on the other!! Accessible by car on a mountian road from Stresa or Orta San Giulio! The journey up the using the cable car and the chair lifts was absolutely a sight worth seeing, though hopefully you will be more fortunate than I was and not go up on a semi foggy day. The were beautiful, though the cable car was a little crowded, and not for the agorophobic. Good facilities overall, though when we stopped at the first point, there was no lighting or running water in the toilet, and at the top of the the toilet was out of service. There is a small cafe at the top which has a good selection of drinks and a few paninis which are a nice refreshment. From here you can walk down, or ride the rollercoaster down, which is a great laugh! Greats of the surrounding area and lakes. A few things to keep in mind: 1) as the cable car is now gone, you need walk about 200m up a hill to get the (not a friendly walk for people with mobility concerns) and 2) it’s a 10 euro toll to get to the top of the from Stesa.
