Lovely place for a walk, lots of good paths and a great view by the water. We parked in the little car park that has space for apx 10 cars. No facilities, just plain and simple park and walk...! Well worth a visit, lovely nature area with circular and various off shoots. Busy with dog walkers but you can soon find yourself in natural bliss. Extended walks take you to bird hides. Wrabness Nature is a contained area of trees & brambles with a couple of very basic birdhides, nestling aside the River Stour. The actual is actually quite tiny, but due to the expanse of nature here, the boundaries with the rest of the unspoilt seawall area isn't that obvious, although new Essex Wildlife Trust signage has been added recently. When the blackberries are in season, Wrabness Nature can become busy with pickers, but otherwise most visitors are either local dog walkers or dedicated birdwatchers. Really a tranquil, secluded place overlooking The Stour, although not the most attractive year round because when the blackberries are out of season, it appears to be a big, overgrown briar patch. The existing paths have been redirected recently & this has served to open up more of the natural woodland on-site. It's an interesting enough place, but does tend to be somewhere passed through on the way to & from the much bigger Nature at Copperas Bay. A good place to visit anytime of the year, no matter what your interests, birds, insects, wildflowers there is always discoveries to be made A beautiful nature walk, I tend to to the beach and along the coast of the Stroud. It is tidal so be careful not to get cut off if you a long way. it's a lovely and dog friendly Really quiet and well tucked away. Couple of small carparks, with many trails, bird hides and a great along the river in either direction. Pleasant with 2 hides, one overlooking estuary. In August saw Oystercatchers, Redshank, Curlew, Little Egret. Lots of butterflies, also saw a stoat and Muntjac deer. Benches were much appreciated, enabling us to sit & enjoy our picnic lunch. Great shop Cant park if your car is too high ( roof box) there is a area close by you can park ( dirt layby) for 3 vans ish.. but lovely walks Small and lovely, quiet reserve. Flat walkways all the way round - if you stick to the paths you wouldn't get muddy on a rainy day. Really something to watch the curlews on the foreshore from the bird hide. Note: We didn't see the levels of dog poo mentioned in earlier posts. Lovely place to have a and take in the surroundings as it's an AONB site, It's a circular route from the carpark (which is free), and takes you along the riverside and back. Benches are dotted along the route allowing you to take a break if needed. Theres also a couple of bird hides if you like to twitch!
