Such a shame the staff do not monitor nor police the football pitch timings / use (until it's their hometime when they don't hold back on blowing a whistle notifying to leave) as it just gets used as a general meeting point by ignorant, rude and unruly teenagers who don't pay to use it and don't like being told to vacate it when paying guests are entitled to use it. I've also been informed by a number of members you are able to simply walk in and use the without booking a timed slot. There are no staff nor procedures stopping wandering into the after attending a class or using the gym. At the proud age of 51 years young, I decided to join a gym for the first time in my life. I joined about 5 weeks ago and I have been going 3 times every week. I am absolutely hooked. The staff are really nice, really helpful and very knowledgeable. I have met some incredibly nice and I would thoroughly recommend it. The facilities are good and it's clean. 👍 Been a member here since early this year but it’s now impossible to go to the gym in the afternoon full of school children messing around with the equipment which is a joke. Will be glad when my membership finishes this month so I can move to a gym that I can actually use the equipment. Not sure why they are not monitored staff to interested in being personal trainers than actually managing the environment. Why would I pay so much to only be able to use the treadmill. Very disappointing Went to the hive gym as was on holiday in Ely. The day pass is an extortionate price, and the week pass is 30£! That’s what I pay a month for an amazing gym in France. I still pay the price because I want to stay active. There’s a small food court, but they don’t have any pre workout on the go, any energy drinks, nothing. And it’s all card only, not cash. Getting up to the gym, the machines are not well maintained at all. Multiple are broken and dangerous. There’s also terrible sanitary manners. No one, cleans their machines after using them or uses a towel, and there is no signes anywhere implementing cleanliness. There is only one product with a wipe for the whole gym, that no one uses. The changing rooms and toilets are also desperately unclean. The worst part though, is that while are trying to come to this gym to train, strengthen, ect, children are playing on the machines. They have a policy of no one under 12 years old which already is crazy, but when I wanted to use a machine there was 8 year olds climbing all over it. The gym is not a place for children to use like a play ground. So overall, terribly overpriced for the facilities provided, and just awful. Do not recommend. Would love to hear your thoughts Hive team. Positives: various activities and good classes, ample car park spaces, friendly and family-friendly atmosphere. Negatives: the opening hours are not good during the weekend and after your weekend activities in the morning, you want to hit the gym but it is closed after 5 on Sas 3 on Monday. The price is too high especially for the number of equipment they provide at the gym and you have to spend hours in the queue. Like other businesses in Ely, they overcharge due to the lack of famous chain businesses like the gym group or Pure Gym. And lastly, the pool's working hours are not good and if you book and cannot attend due to a family business they charge you £3 even for the first time! If I had another choice, I would definitely go there but it's Ely! Only use the here, I swim in the evenings a couple of times a week. Staff on reception are friendly and willing to answer any questions. The itself is a decent temperature however does get very overcrowded and isn't very well managed. If you are a member you can walk in and use the without booking, despite the fact you should book a slot. There is nothing stopping just wandering in after the gym or a class and it has been busy to the point it is no longer enjoyable and I end up having to get out early. Staff say that it isn't possible to swim without a booking but I've spoken to multiple who inform me they don't bother booking due to having a membership. It's a shame the lanes are not better managed either, often with slow swimmers in the medium lanes beimg lapped multiple times but refusing to move over to a slower lane with half the amount of in it. A year or so ago staff would manage this and move into faster/slower lanes accordingly. Changing rooms are hit and miss, I do often see cleaning and hosing down, but toilet areas are often dirty with no soap. I did have to ask someone to clean up the toenail clippings someone had left all over the changing bench when I took my little one the other week. Only joined about a month ago and super impressed. Staff are really friendly, the place is bang upto date. Love the pool, always seem to meet a mate every time I am there I never knew so many of my friends were members! Considering the cost of not being a full member for each and gym session, it's a bargain to have full membership. Well recommended 👍 Just started taking my daughters for lessons and they love it! Fantastic price, great teachers and very friendly place.
