One of many Marchenwald attractions in Germany. This one is located on the Rhine River cliff at Bad Breisig. There is little parking near by - space for a couple of cars - and the entrance is up some steps by the side of the railway. Note that it is definitely not suitable for anyone who isn't able to any distance! The path rises in a zig-zag up the face of the River cliff. It is a charming trip past scenes from fairy tales - apparently the descriptions are in old German so may be tricky to translate properly but Google has a good guess! Once you reach the end you pay and can have a coffee overlooking the Rhine. There is a small play park suitable for smaller children. Once you leave the attraction at the top, there is a reasonable back down to the town to through the woods past the Jewish cemetery and an interesting exposed section of local geology! Very nice place. But you need to be ready to go downhill back. Anyway its beautiful It is Interesting even if you are not German speaking. Would be much better with an interactive app for translation of the stories in other languages. The playground is small, so overall plan for 2 hours max visit. Food is basic, but ok to keep satisfied young customers. The views are fantastic for parents enjoying a coffee and cakes. Very cool place, old school analog exhibitions are nailing it! Bring cash - no card payment (no surprise in DE). Place is opened seasonally so make sure you check if open before arrival. On the top there is a buffet and a playground for kids - simple but sufficient. Worst place we ever visited. No parking at all. The entry is directly from a busy road without access for strollers or wheelchairs. Then you have to on a narrow dirty path along the railways to finally get to the Märchenwald itself, which is horrible. You climb on a narrow path from house to house up to the top where, despite a spectacular view, you meet a very rude lady who tskes in account even your 3 months sleeping kid for payment. We ended up paying 19 euro for a family with 3 kids and seeing some old wrecked things. Up there there is only one, untidy toilet. The way down was also blocked by some cars (probably belonging to the owner and the rude lady) so we had to take our pram in hands to get rid from there. DO NOT GO THERE. IT'S A WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME. A nice little adventure for young children. There is parking behind the Lidl supermarket, You then under the railway bridge and along the path next to the rail tracks, you don't see the entrance to the park until you are right next to it! It is not accessible with wheel chairs. When you enter the park don't expect to pay straight away, you pay when you get to the end. The attractions are spaced out along a path winding its way up the hill in the woods. A great setting for the fairytales. The displays are a bit dated, but still neat and tidy and my 4,5 year old son loved it! At the top you pay, the staff were nice and friendly, toilets were clean and the views at the terrace are very nice. The play park is small but decorated very well. The route back down to the car park is a dirt track, it is fine to on and gets a bit steep. The price is a bit high for what you get, but worth a visit if you are in the area. This is an old-school place, so if you expect Disneyland, you will be disappointed. You have to make sure your kids are at the right age for this and know some fairy tales that they can recognize. Our kids aged 4 and 6 totally loved it. Despite being old, the puppets and buildings are kept in a good condition. No paint coming off or parts that are not working. It's a bit on the pricey side, especially as it only takes 45 to 60 minutes to through it, but I guess that's what it takes to keep the place up and running. It's in a forest and there is plenty of shade, so it's nice and cool on a hot summer day. There is lots of free parking. The only point I would criticize is that the "playground" at the top is a joke, existing mainly of little (paid!) car machines and the like. Ok, there is not a lot of space, but they could definitely do better there. Very cool and casual. Like walking in a fairy tale forest. Beer at the end. But it's definitely not accessible for those with limited mobility. Simply a fraud. Very high cost for old puppets moving an arm and a trembling recorded voice saying a few things about the tales. Girl at the checkout asking for lots of money very unfriendly, on top. Save time and money by going elsewhere. Because beyond the money, even your children will come out disappointed.
