Great effort to kip traditions by the community Nice real place from the past Tolle location Beautiful reconstruction of a small castellum. Make sure to take the guided tour. Top This place was pretty cool. There was plenty of parking for cars up to buses. We show up and are greeted by role players in full Roman attire and filling different roles. They gave us an in-depth experience on Roman arms and armor, military tactics, logistics, camp life, cooked us an authentic Roman soldier meal, fort structure, the Limes defensive network, barracks life, and military structure. Some spoke very good English and others did their best. They also gave us a bow, Scorpion, and Ballista demonstration which was awesome. They had a cafeteria and grill to cook and serve an actual meal for lunch which was delicious. They had a large, functioning, well kept bathroom facility which was nice. They also had a watch tower with plenty of displays inside it. COVID-19 restrictions applied and you had to wear a mask when social distancing was unable to be maintained. Definitely recommend for anyone interested in the Limes defensive network or Roman history. This is a reconstruction of a Roman Mile Castle with an attached Watchtower. It's first class, an extremely well done reconstruction which gives an excellent idea of how a mile castle might have been set out. It has a nice cafe with very helpful staff who speak very good English. One of the various rooms has been laid out as a typical Roman barrack room complete with armour and weapons that can be tried on for size. All areas are accessible and the walls can be walked. The tower is also open and well worth a visit. The car park is fairly small and the site reached by driving though a small estate behind the garage. Don't miss it if you are in the area. Update 27 Sept Again visited unfortunately despite their web site saying they would be open on a Monday is wasn't, very disappointed but still enjoyed wandering around the outside then on to Saalburg. The down side to this place that may effect you is that you need to be able to read german there is no english translation. But great way to spend the morning or afternoon Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
