This was very nice and the inside was so well kept. It was a joy doing the as well as not being able to take pictures helps you stay focused on the tour. We only had to wait because the started 45 minutes from when we arrived. Our was so nice and so was the ticket seller. The entire experience was pleasant and me and my friend didn’t have to travel far to get there! We had expected more but were somewhat disappointed. The conveyor belt of weddings we witnessed didn't detract from our visit, slightly incongruous though they may have been, I imagine tourists were more off-putting for the bride & groom than the other way around. Visits are by guided only, which is quite a thing, no photography inside, which I also applaud. Tours however are only in German, with no translation or written explanation, which isn't great if you're not German. We speak schoolchild type conversational German (we're English so that's actually quite good!) but it doesn't allow us to follow fast spoken tricky language. We missed out on a lot. Also, there's nothing else there. No grounds, well there are a couple of laid-out gardens but he gates are locked, & it's not possible to walk around. No cafe, no coffee, more to the point no beer, so having done the tour, understood practically nothing which we couldn't work out for ourselves visually, we left, a bit let down. Had a private as we were the only guests in February. Because German is not our native language the took real care to speak slowly so we could take in as much information as we could. Great little with all original features and furniture. Not too amazing, just a like any other German from the same time-period. Nice location though, to combine with a hike or visit to any of the vulcanic areas. I went here as a faan of indiana jones, this castle, sorry to say: was not worth the money or the tour.
