Fantastic vantage point in the city of Rijeka. I did not have the chance to go into the astronomic centre but I really enjoyed having a drink on the rooftop. The is absolutely fantastic, even better than the from Trsat castle. Must visit! Astronomical Center Rijeka is a great site for something more than regular tourism. It was renewed in 2009 on the base of WW2 fort. It contains a telescope, an observation deck, a planetarium and a caffe bar. Thematic presentations are held in the planetarium throughout the week. The from the deck is astonishing and there are chairs and tables so one can just sit there enjoying the drink and the view... Great with good coffee. Perfect for a relaxing walk on nearby hills. Astronomical presentations for kids and all ages available. Super interesting. Personnel professional. Loved it. We tried to see the observatory for a few years in a row during our stay in Rijeka, but it is always closed. We finally managed to this Wednesday, getting the information is quite confusing and unclear. We had to wait until 22:00 to see if the weather would stay good and if the observatory would open. We went to see a movie in the planetarium while we waited for 10PM, and it's only in Croatian, which wasn't explained to us, and for a 40 minute movie, it's a bit pricey. Tickets for the observatory are really good value, we had a chance to look at stars, star clusters, Mars, and the Moon, which was absolutely amazing, it was really worth the wait and I'm so glad we finally got the chance to after so many failed attempts. I managed to get a photo with my phone camera through the telescope and I am delighted with it. I would kindly suggest the management to update their information clearly in the planetarium and on their website with detailed information and explanations on closures. Astronomski centar Rijeka je odlično mjesto za ljubitelje svemira i zvijezda. Smješten je na brdu te nudi prekrasan pogled na grad i more. Planetarij je posebno zanimljiv jer se uz pomoć moderne tehnologije može putovati kroz svemir učiti o planetima, zvijezdama i galaksijama. Osoblje je ljubazno i rado odgovara na pitanja. Programi su prilagođeni i djeci. Preporučujem svima koji žele spojiti zabavu i znanje! Great and caffe bar on rooftop Another must spot in Rijeka. It is sooo peaceful here! Great walk for a daily activities to enjoy the breathtaking landscapes! It is a place where time stops, place that is filling you with joy and energy. FYI.You also can enjoy a cup of coffee or other drinks in the cafe on the top. Amazing view. I recommend for view. The best in Rijeka. Without the review probably was 2 or 3 stars. We visited during Covid 19 restrictions and the astronomical part is actually close. You can only see some video(only croatian) so it was more a bar than an astronomy place. Inside is smelled strange. No information that tourists can only on Thursday and Saturday. We where here with our kids and there is nothing to show. Not for children without Croatian language. Nothing to see. I loved hiking to the top, it was wonderful. I wasn't able to the astronomical centre because it was closed but we saw a quaint church close by and my friends and I had a picnic at the very top and we're able to watch the sun set, it was breathtaking.
