You can have a picnic or eat at the caffe. We took a 50 minute drive from Ajaccio up into the hills to Lac de Tolla. The narrow winding roads are a bit precarious - with few passing places for oncoming cars. Head for the Bas Nautique and stop off for a coffee and crepe in La Paillotte near the water’s edge, then walk up towards the canoe hire place - this will take you to a short walk around part of the lake. Then drive to the Barrage where you can take a further walk around a densely wooded part of the lake. Great views and the chance to encounter some local wildlife - boats and goats! Tip: This area gets very busy in summer and can loose a lot of its rustic charm when there are cars and people everywhere!
