Ongoing workshops, events, and courses. Small cafe in a delightful gift shop selling "art, craft, and design'. Ideal presents. Dropping off only, as parking is but a few minutes down the road. Wish I could live there "On and off the Loom" is takes textiles in exciting directions! A lovely and a quite unexpected treasure to have come across. It's a brilliant small space and the exhibition we saw was wonderful. It is though quite a small exhibition space and, at £10pp, it is expensive. We nearly walked out - I'm glad we didn't but it's the sort of cost that puts me off, very sadly. A brilliant telling great local stories. Really worth looking up what's on, they have had a great series of shows. With the current tenuous financial reality for arts institutions, they need your support more than ever. We then looked for lunch in Ditchling and we were welcomed into the Fig Tree Café. Nothing was too much trouble. It was lovely to be able to find a menu that had gluten free and dairy free meals. We had a delicious meal and gorgeous coffee. It was a lovely dayp. A delightful place to visit. One of my favourite museums, feels like such a hidden gem to me, beautiful gallery spaces, warm and knowledgeable team, lovely cafe and gift shop 😊 An incredible little gallery based in the heart of the beautiful village of Ditchling. We popped along for the “Signs of the Seaside” exhibition and I absolutely loved seeing all the books on typeface and fonts. Although we’re based in Portsmouth, I’d happily drive over here for any exhibitions in the future. Visited Raymond Briggs Exhibition. Brilliant display . Lunch after at Nutmeg Cafe..delightful garden. My husband and I travelled from London by train to visit the Snowman exhibition and other Raymond Briggs works at Ditchling of Art and Craft. I knew nothing about him, and was interested in the information and display. I bought some items from the shop, but was disappointed there weren't more Raymon Briggs Father Christmas bits and Snowman bits for sale. It was a pleasant afternoon, in the country. A small with an impact much greater than its physical size. Its exhibitions are always well worth a visit - I travel 1.5 hours from home for a visit and consider it well worth the journey. It often has workshops linked to its exhibitions, which extend and develop the ways in which visitors can engage with and appreciate the skill involved in the creation of the works on show. It was very expensive for the size of the and I wasn't keen on the fact that a certain artist was being over promoted due to the history behind him. But overall educational. It's changed so much since I came here as a child. Gift shop was also expensive but cafe was reasonable. Wish I'd been when the Vera Lynn or Raymond Briggs exhibitions were on instead.
