(there is no commerce or water up on the hill) The summit can be reached via various paths that run over long distances in the semi-shade of the trees. So you can venture the climb very well in the summer. At the top you have a nice view to the Largo di Varese and Largo di Maggiore. If you choose to hike from Caldana, keep in mind it’s quite steep and therefore challenging. The path is well marked. Once you get to Forte di Orino, you’re rewarded with a breathtaking view. Totally recommended, but good hiking shoes are a must. The view is fantastic.
