Would highly recommend La necropolis de Maipes is an archaeological park located in the northwest of Gran Canaria in the town of Agaete. There is a parking lot nearby. The entrance fee is 3 euros, and tickets are also valid for the Necropolis of Artear, Canada de lo Gatos and Cenobio de Valeron. The employees are very kind and accommodating. A beautifully landscaped path has been created that leads to the archaeological museum where you can see sections of the tombs and imagine what they look like from the inside. In the archaeological park itself, there are about 700 tombs, some of which are around 1300 years old, which is why they represent an exceptional historical value for the inhabitants of Gran Canaria. Amazing place, I’m really glad that I found it by accident. If you like history it’s a must see. It’s an ancient burial site, everything is well explained, and it’s approx 1 hour to see everything. There is no parking available, so you need to park in the area, but we found parking spot easily. We came around 4pm so we could go visit everything we wanted to see but it is a nice experience to see how the people used to entomb their loved ones. An interesting place to visit, the design of the walk ways and building is impressive they fit seamlessly into the landscape whilst also creating a contrast to the lava.
