There are staff always available for help if you need. Equipment that I would want to know that is missing: stepmaster/stairmaster, glute hyperextension bench, deadlift mat/area, no bumper plates (rubber ones), only one leg extension and curl, no assisted pull up machine, only one pull up rack. There are plenty of cable machines, benches, dumbbells, even squat racks. They also do not allow guests to purchase day passes. The free access to the university students makes this one of the best facilities provided for students. The courts are very nice and the gym is solid as well I attended Lancashire business expo 2025 here and it was very well organized Attended my sons graduation. Would suggest that UCLAN use this from now on. It might not have the architecture of some places but that's not what we are there for. Also ideal place to have the the after ceremony drinks and photos. Pretty amazing gym and other sports facilities. Always warm inside and equipments and machines are amazing too. The Cardio room rocks with dark and low bass music. 🤘 rubbish equipment missing a lot of key machines and the ones they have they have too few of especially benches which is to understand how a gym could skimp on these. why would you need 100 treadmills but only 5 benches Staff are hit and miss on when they feel like enforcing their mickey mouse rules (another thing which fails to marry up with the majority of gyms). very disappointed as falls way below the standard of other university gyms questions to be asked of this gym. Hi, I have a tough time talking and getting the right information from the training. The receptionist is quite rude and intimidated. Poor parking facilities and not clearly marked where the disabled access was. Also could do with more dropped kerbs so wheelchair users can access the pavements. Disappointing considering the event was hosting wheelchair rugby! Once inside the building the facilities were good. Nice viewing area to watch the games. Attended for graduation last week, the hall was spectacularly decorated and a wonderful space for the ceremony. Staff were helpful, polite and enthusiastic! Decent enough gym but no card no access rule is a bit dumb if they can check your identity on the computers. Doesn’t make any sense. They can check if you have a university pass and if you’re enrolled in the gym with visual verification that it’s actually you with a picture but you still can’t get in? Might just be because it’s too much effort checking the computers. Brilliant Sports centre, clean and friendly staff. The rowing machines have been moved which is fine but they now face a wall instead of the window. It would be great if they were turned round so you don’t have to look at a wall while exercising.
