This old coble fishing boat was rescued from destruction in Skinningrove but was too far gone to make seaworthy. craftsmen carved the two fishermen and set them into the boat which now looks out over the harbour. There's a nice walk along the sea wall with great views along the coast but little else here. . Watch out for the sharp turn at the bottom of the hill from the main road when turning onto the road. An attractive sculpture commemorating the fishermen who made a living from this hidden away coastal village on the North East coast. Recently renovated, this is a fine example of a Yorkshire Coble, the distinctive design is particularly associated with the north-east coast fishing community.Good parking facilities and a lengthy pier parallel to river and harbour mouth. A very scenic and hidden gem of a place. Beautiful site! Unspoilt coastline with large sandy beaches. There is a small, free, carpark and toilets, a fish and chip shop, but little else. An ideal location for getting away from it all, or for taking your dog for a long relaxing walk. This place to stay is brilliant lovely little beach. When you park up ,walk along edge of sea an you will see two big concrete walls.go through these an beach is there.. Super endroit pour dormir en van et se balader Didn't see a sculpture, but the beaches and walks are superb. Another amazing, atmospheric coastal bay north of Whitby. Don't be put off by the steelworks, Skinningrove is a beautiful place. Decent wood carving of two fishermen placed in a previously recovered and restored boat. The boat has subsequently deteriorated significantly and needs urgent attention before this becomes a neglected eyesore rather than a positive addition to an otherwise fairly bland seafront. One of a number of efforts by a clearly proud community to raise the ambiance of the area which clearly has struggled from loss of employment opportunities. The nearby collection of vintage tractors bused by the fishermen is also very photogenic. Free car park and good sandy beach nearby, along with fantastic cliff top walks. Came down here for a walk as I've never been before. Very rugged and in places extremely steep. Beach was amazing. Lots of people walking their dogs. Weather was not great and very windy but in the summer it would be lovely. No amenities that I could see. There were places to park but I think it will be very difficult to get a space in the summer when it's busy. Nice touch to display this history. It was a shame that some dog walkers are not clearing up after their dogs. The community are trying to help by providing bag stations and bins but you still get the inconsiderate ones that let dog owners down. Beautiful quiet place Ouite area, nice beach about 100yards away It's a lovely spot ,lovely beach Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
