I was pleasantly surprised to discover that you can go to the top of the beacon without paying! (There is a trendy bar attached at the bottom). I decided to take the steps up to the top (7 floors of stairs), but there is a working for those that aren't able to navigate the stairs. On various floors there is businesses operating including the local radio station (Zetland FM). The is stunning. At the there are toilets. Overall a pleasant experience and I loved the from the top. Interesting structure. Lights up well as a seafront centrepiece. Just recently opened after 2 years. of Redcar and beyond from the top it has a suite for marriages and civil partnerships overlooking the sea. Zetland radio is also based here. Including a cafe and restaurant on the floor. Plus public toilets and baby changing facilities. I didn't catch the weather it was a bit cold and not a lot open. Nice place to walk along the beach though. sea views. The beach looked clean. Fish and chips were good. A lot of litter along the sea wall though Lovely from the top. Nice bar on floor. A bit pricey but the food was nice. Other floors in the beacon are used by a radio station. It also has a with an area for civil partnerships. A height to gain a full of Redcar without feeling unsafe. It gives a fuller perspective of where you are and a appreciation of the area than you would have from a view. The is a size (as pictured) and feels very quick and reliable. The cafe/bar does a variety of hot, cold and alcoholic drinks at quite reasonable prices with very friendly staff. This is an essential addition to any visit to the Redcar seafront. Waste if space ugly structure. from the top if you like looking at redundant steel works and a tatty seafront. The first time I catered for the event at the Redcar Beacon, I had mixed feelings. the staff and the Venue itself were and very helpful I ordered a pizza and it was lovely. The downside which has nothing to do with the operation the bar and the restaurant more to do with redcar Council the redcar Pier is absolutely dreadful corroded bad design and embarrassment for the people of Redcar certainly needs maintenance On the outside it's clean polished metal surrounding.... Inside more council concrete! The only thing that was working was the lift! All other parts either closed or not in use. So a very expensive lookout tower! (Free to go in) But this is not a reflection on Redcar which is a lovely place for families It's alright nothing life changing im not going to lie place to explore with family. A Jurassic coast line that goes on for miles with fossils and an ancient Forrest of more than 3,000 years old. massive waste of money, pretty much a useless building that is already looking aged, at the very least they could have added a slide We visited the bar at the of the beacon twice. The pizza & drink deal is and the pizza was delicious. The bar is dog friendly inside & out. The only downside is that no one seems to clear tables outside, but I only saw one staff member who was manning the bar. Don't live in Redcar, was there for a dentist check up. A quick google search and this was one of the recommended places to go. Glad we did the pizza was enjoyable and included a drink. We opted for a beer. Very value for money. Seating inside and out. From the outside, it rather resembles an incomplete helter skelter and tends to be Marmite - people either love it or they hate it. But either way, there's no denying it stands out from other seafront landmarks and the endless repetition of piers. The from the top is worth it, and can be accessed by either stairs or a - and having been up, you can reward yourself with a drink from the bar at level! Fun the first time. Toilets are available at the main entrance details and beautiful lights on a night, but the interior isn't great, 1 point off and the toilets don't stay clean. Very few staff, 1 point off. Love The Beacon. Such a unique building, from the top, lovely pub on the and at night the building looks fabulous all lit up. It’s right on the promenade so out to sea (when the weather is clear). It’s free to go up to the top too. Haven’t been to Redcar for a while but whenever I go I always like to see The Beacon. I really can’t understand why some people think it’s an eyesore. No offence to the town but Redcar hasn’t got much going for it except for the Racecourse and Racing isn’t every day. The Beacon is a pleasant looking landmark that due to pub at the is more useful than many newish editions to the North East. You want to see an eyesore then look no further than the Angel of the North. The Beacon is well worth a visit if you go to Redcar in my opinion. Understand why the locals are annoyed at how much this cost, it looks okayish at night when lit up but by day it’s an eyesore, the “architect” clearly didn’t consider the materials used as it looks dirty & derelict from being blasted by the sea. The “entrance” with a broken door and filthy windows has zero information in it, the is awkward with the call button placed not on the and looks more like an emergency call button. It really makes you feel like you shouldn’t be there. A slightly redeeming factor is the which isn’t even a 360 one so all you see is the vastness of the sea and the road in both directions where it’s located which is hardly scenic, at a push it takes about 2 minutes to fully take in and you really wouldn’t be bothered about seeing it again. Exiting the viewing platform via the spiral steel cold caged stairs is grim and harsh, you couldn’t really make an interior any more uninviting. In seven floors there’s nothing apart from walking past the radio station window and them looking surprised that someone is there, the rest is empty rooms that look like they’re used for storage, the beacon lounge bar at the which doesn’t feel part of it just adds to the misery, it’s trying to be “trendy” or up market or something but it has broken and ripped chairs, menus that are dirty and look as tired as the beacons exterior, it seems like it’s only surviving due to lack of options for locals and in a larger town or city would be out of business. This is meant for the community and assume to attract visitors so why is it so hard to find opening hours/ info on it instead of the first hits being the bar, a hotel etc?
