Lovely people, extremely knowledgeable. Very educational and fun the birds. A privilege to handle a Golden Eagle. Will definitely be back. A fantastic day out. My wife brought me an Owl and Hawk experience AND an Eagle Experience. It was easy to book via email, I did both on the same day. A warm welcome and straight away I was introduced to a baby tawny Owl! I sat a chatted to Billy one of the volunteer handlers at the centre. The morning was seeing holding, feeding and various and a kestrel. The morning show with commentary by George, another volunteer and display done by Billy and US the audience! over heads or walking by our feet sitting next to us it was amazing. The afternoon was just Billy and I and the birds, I was so lucky to be the only one. I was able to see a fully grown, at only nine months old bald Eagle a blizzard Owl (similar to the Harry Potter owl) fly a chillian Eagle, see a step Eagle, HOLD a male Golden Eagle feed, on the wing a black kite ! There were an collection of superb birds. You can see the care these have and the knowledge of the handlers is second to none. Finally the most ( if your reading this your probably thinking nutter!!) I showered and bathed a HUGE beautiful female Golden Eagle. And she LOVED it. So don't think I ran a nice hot bath and put a rubber duck in it!! She was in her enclosure and I filled her tray up. She was in it "talking" washing herself and having a time!! So a HUGE big thank you to Billy for everything and George your commentary was perfect! Had the best day with our 8 year old. Booked for the Hawk walk and handling the owls. Wow! What an experience. Billy was out falconer for the Hawk walk and owls. We couldn't of asked for a nicer person . Very , Interesting and passionate about the birds. The 3 of us and Billy took Maverick the Harris Hawk for a walk around grounds holding and him ourselves. Amazing. Then we took part in the show for everyone , you get to be very close to lots of the birds. Then we had a behind the scenes with the , so interesting. Can't praise the here enough. people , clearly very passionate and doing things. Small cafe and toilets on site. What a lovely place! They had Barn which are my faves so it's an instant 5 stars but they had a fair few of prey. As much as you don't want to see them in cages etc it's only way to see these gorgeous birds, understand them, interested in them, and can go away with an added interest and maybe do something positive from it all. They looked well looked after, taken care of and was a treat seeing them live (as some you just don't see anyways) The show with the around, speaker explaining the bird, them, feeding them was excellent! As much it was a suntrap sat there for a good hour (I got burnt!) it was really interesting and seeing the in person, was beautiful. Saw some baby barn walking around which were cute, some gorgeous owls. Its a good solid entertaining hour if you take your time, longer when you take in a show.. lovely place and staff. The are simply stunning. Really enjoyed it. Had a fantastic day despite the cold. The here are passionate and clearly care for the birds. The talks and displays were informative, entertaining, and immersive. They made sure to include as many people as possible with the bird handling. Can't wait to visit in the new location! Absolutely place. Definitely worth visiting!! As soon as we arrived this guy just gave us a glove and then put this super cute owl on the glove!! Was soo amazing. Then they showed off some birds. Which flew right over our heads. Then got to hold a golden eagle! Was a day!! I will go back again soon! I loved it! Honestly one of the best experience days out i have had in memory. The were very well cared from, free flown as much as needed, each enclosure was clean and well kept. Each member of was amazing, our favorite for George, you could see the love he and each bird that he handled, the bonds were very obvious. The talks were very interesting, not just your normal long winded talk. It was entertaining along with any member of the visiting customers that wanted to handle the out on display they could. The owner, you could feel his passion and it was infectious. My only piece of advice that I wish we knew before coming...... neither of us drive and Google maps was not helpful, as it dropped us off on the bus in the middle of nowhere with a 45 min walk along main roads with not a single foot path, we mentioned this when we arrived and was given a motherly telling off for not calling them and would have been picked up from the bus stop. So if you dont drive, please call ahead. They are however moving soon and there are easier public access links. We visited today and had a fabulous time! The all look so relaxed and well cared for, there were some absolutely stunning that we loved getting to see so close up, the display/talk was absolutely and the team were so knowledgeable, friendly and funny, and very honest which we respect massively! We can't wait to visit again in the future, keep up the work guys! We visited for the evening flight eventually and it was amazing. It's heartwarming to see how much everyone here cares for the birds, they are really and passionate. We got to see a range of owls, eagles and raptors, getting to hold them and learn about them. We also got to see them fly at night, which was amazing. All the are happy and healthy and well cared for. A fantastic day!!!! Definitely worthy to go!!! All the staffs there are nice and about birds. For people who don't have a car but want to go from York: bus 30 could be an option, just 40mins walk from the bus station along the main road, which is kind of dangerous but generally is fine! Excellent centre, very who couldn’t have done more to make both an entertaining and informative visit. Even though they are in the process of moving, (which did mean some areas of the site were being demolished) all the appeared to have plenty of space, and got to fly. Well worth spending the day there (there’s 2 demos per day) on site café provides drinks/sandwiches/Paninis all at affordable prices. They even managed to find a right handed glove so mum could handle an Owl (something she has wanted to do for years…) I had a Photogaphy day at York bird of prey centre bought for me as a birthday present last year and last Friday 27th June i managed to use my ticket. What fantastic day i had over 6 hours in total and also fed and drink included at dinner time. I spent the day with Billy who was very and also keen to share his knowlrdge. I got handle many of the watched the displays even went into some of the enclosures during feeding ect. I took many photo's of the and portrait's also a experiance of watching and photography of a lure session with one of the Hawkes. All of the were very friendly and i would love to visit again maybe when they move to their new premises. This was honestly they were so and passionate about conservation and was really aspiring ! They are people that take the to make everyone feel comfortable and if you wanted a go to hold one of the they would let you! Had an definitely recommend for any one of all ages ! Truly the most phenomenal experience! My fiancé and I have visited on two occasions now and absolutely cant wait to return. It’s my favorite part about visiting York. The level of care, attention, and love all the provide for each and every bird is tangible. The hawk walk experience is an absolute must! Elisha was the most attentive, knowledgeable, and kind falconer. We can’t wait to come back the next I visit from the states. I tell everyone back home about it - its truly awe inspiring & leaves a lasting impact, long after you leave. Had an excellent day at the York bird of prey centre today. My husband had booked the eagle experience for my birthday and it did not disappoint! The were all brilliant - really and welcoming. George did the tour with me and he was excellent and made me feel completely safe even with the biggest birds. I would not hesitate to recommend this place as the are obviously loved and cared for. Can’t wait for another visit! My partner and I had a day out at the Bird of Prey Centre, we would love to come back one day soon. Billy was the falconer showing us the and letting us handle them, he was super friendly and really made the experience for us. It’s so admirable the amount of knowledge he shared with us and just how passionate he is about them. The family working inside were really lovely and welcoming too. Thank you for a day!
