A few interesting museums and plenty of restaurant options to sit outside and watch the world go by in an interesting setting One, I would say, of very interesting parts of the city. From here you can walk from the blue tower to the red tower. The wall with buildings has been preserved almost in its original form and here you can look at the Neckar from the old wall and even walk along the wall, as knights did in the Middle Ages. Small place but very beautiful sightseeing. Phantastic ancient centre, dating back to the Staufer dynasty as one of their imperial strongholds. Nice little shops, restaurants and cafés. The narrow mews, steep stairs and half-timbered houses are marvellous. The imperial stone towers, cutrain wall and buildings are impressive. Impressively old, beautiful, and quiet. Die schon vor der Stauferzeit entstandene Spornburg steht im Context der Neckarfurten und der sich hier bündelnden Fernwege über den Kraichgau vom Rhein, entlang der westlichen Flussterrassen des Neckar nach Süden auf die Gäuflächen, die Hohe Straße auf der Wasserscheide von Jagst und Kocher nach Osten und - kaum noch beachtet - der Fernweg über die Krumme Ebene zur Ost-Umgehung des Odenwalds ("Bachenauer Weg", "Dallauer Sträßle") auf das Bauland bis Miltenberg am Main. Die Könige damals sind ja von den "Grossen", bzw. den Stammesherzogen des Reichs gewählt worden, was regelmäßige Machtwechsel mit sich brachte. So entstand auch keine ständige Residenz, von der aus ein jeweiliger König hätte regieren können bzw. wollen. So wurde "aus dem Sattel" regiert, der König zog von Königshof zu Königshof, von denen die günstigst gelegenen alsbald ausgebaut und öfter zur Hofhaltung aufgesucht worden sind: Die Königspfalzen("-paläste"). Je länger nun eine Stammesdynastie den König stellte, desto mehr entwickelten sich "Schwerpunkt"-Pfalzen, wie z.B. Wimpfen bei den Staufern...
