Interesting animals, and nice cafe We love and like to do a different animal each year. Saw this place and it's many reviews and decided to visit. Can tell from their website that it's not the biggest zoo, and their entry price reflects this. Without doing any of the experiences you can easily spend a few hours here (they have plenty of keeper talks through the day) and it's value for money. We had booked the VIP Private Zookeeper which runs from 14:00 until 16:30. The zoo opens at 11:00 and entry was included with our experience. We were told to come earlier to the zoo in order to choose the we wanted to see which was a first for us (never been given a choice of before). When we arrived we were shown a list of all the animal options and told to come back at 13:30 to tell them our preferences. (It was a hard decision to pick 6 from the list!) All the animal enclosures were a size with plenty of outside and inside space and everything seemed very clean. We went back to entrance just before 13:30 and sat on the benches outside in the sun to finalise our animal list. I got a latte from their café which was very good. Better coffee than most chain coffee shops (and cheaper!) At 14:00 we met our keeper (Kirsten) who was amazing. She took us to their kitchen where we prepared the food for all the we were going to meet. Then the real fun began! First, we went to meet 2 of the Genets. They were so tiny and cute and crawled all over us and gently ate from our hands. Never seen a Genet before but it was an amazing experience! Next we met the three banded armadillo (the only armadillo that can curl up into a perfect ball). Unfortunately their claws are dangerous so we couldn't really play with it, but we did get to hold/stroke it while it was curled in a ball. It's amazing how they fit together so perfectly. Next we went in to meet the Kinkajou. We hand fed him fruit (which it really enjoyed). He ate very slowly so we spent a while stroking and feeding him! Next we fed the 2 red fronted brown lemurs. They really enjoyed sitting on us while eating from our hands, and we love how they pull your hand closer with their tiny cute fingers! Next to the otters which you can't go in with for safety reasons. But they have glass with holes in just big enough for the otters hands to fit through. We fed them fish through the holes and it's the cutest thing to see them putting their hands through the holes to grab the fish with their tiny little paws. Finally we met the Veiled Chameleon. By this point the zoo had closed to the public and so there was no-one around, so they brought the chameleon outside for us. Amazing colours, and it was very happy just sitting on us while taking photos. We've never seen a chameleon that close before and it was one of the highlights of the day. Kirsten was great. Very and about all the in the zoo and quite happy talking non-stop (in a way!) about the we were meeting. We spent a amount of with each of our chosen and nothing felt rushed. Having done similar experiences in the UK as well as other countries, I would say this is one of our favourites. The whole thing was perfectly organised and on time, and it's clear that they know what they are doing. I would highly recommend the VIP Private Zookeeper and we will definitely be back to do it again in the future. Visited here for the first with my partner on Monday. It was a really nice experience, it is a very small yet zoo, and a surprising amount to look at considering the size. The have lots of space to roam about - not at all cramped together. Perfect for the younger members of our family, entrance prices and staff. No need to book, just turn up. Zoo is next door to a large pay and display car park. We had lunch in the cafe which was all freshly cooked and the tables were spotless, prices for food and drinks Amazing very clean love how there was lots of room and was We've been here twice now and it's honestly a little zoo. Takes us about 3 hours to go around and take part in the short animal talks and handling sessions. This the kids got to the chameleon talk, the bearded dragons talk (they could stroke him at the end) and the mini beasts talk and craft activity (they handled a millipede and then made pipe cleaner dragonflies). The guy who delivered all the talks was brilliant during the course of the day he learnt all the kids names and when they arrived at each talk he remembered each one of them and really made them feel special. Just wandering around the zoo we also got to pet a tortoise, a guinea pig and a corn snake. The highlight for me were the armadillos and the marmosets absolutely fascinating to watch them so up close. The cost to get in is a fraction of the cost of other zoos and so worth it. The all look well cared for, the enclosures seem adequate (to my very basic knowledge of the needs obviously) and the all seemed very passionate about the animals. Parking outside is ample but does cost and requires a smart phone to scan a QR code. There's a small gift shop and cafe. Plenty of picnic benches in the zoo which you can eat your own food at. The toilets are awful that would be my only negative. They stink and are very dirty and untidy. Loads of hand washing stations around the zoo itself which is great. It's also nice to team up with a trip into Telford park (loads of play areas in there for all ages). Plus a walk into Telford town centre which is only 10 minutes from the zoo car park and you can have a bite to eat. There's a hungry horse, Bella Italia, pizza express, loads of eateries. Truly a wonderful day out and we will be back!! Little zoo that's for young kids and doesn't break the bank ... Been here so many times but you can't beat it , are always amazing sooooo and always willing to help they will tell you the life story of of the animal you ask about and so much more , so thank you every one at Exotic Zoo you make every like are first ....... Highly recommend A wonderful small zoo. We took the VIP zoo keeper which was fun. We got to prepare food for the (including live meal worms and dead chicks!). We chose 6 to feed. My daughter liked the meerkats best but it is hard to pick a favourite. Well worth a visit! We had a brilliant animal experience, we fed the capybara who was lovely. The keeper was very and knowledgeable. They have a collection of fossils too. We'll be back! Armadillo Experience!! Yes, really. little zoo!! Had a brilliant 1:2:1 experience. Kennedy was the keeper who looked after us, she was excellent, really and passionate about the and had some very surprising information about the armadillos!! place, tucked away and basic but a really experience. Would recommend and happily go back again. This is a wonderful place! It represents excellent value for money and whilst not the biggest zoo, they have plenty of interesting and awesome to see. The keepers, mostly volunteers are and really enthusiastic about the they care for! The are clearly well cared for with plenty of enrichment! You can even feed a few of them. The cafe is value with decent snacks Exotic zoo is well worth a visit! This was our first and we loved it. The are all and very well looked after. You can get the chance to stroke some and all are and really friendly. There is lots of seating to have your lunch and a gift shop too. Would definitely recommend. Also wheelchair which we needed. We visited today to do the capybara experience, and we had the best meeting Smudge! The keepers were super and knowledgeable, and told us loads of interesting facts. We really enjoyed exploring the rest of the zoo, hearing keeper talks and meeting some of the reptiles that were out. We're already planning our next visit, we can't wait to come back! Came here today with 2 kids and another adult what a day I was given a buyagift voucher for 2 for the armadillo and it was more than enough I love armadillos big or small they have both got to feed them and hold the 3 banded ones the nine banded are a bit more of a hand full but we'll worth the drive and the zoo had other for kids and adults alike we also did a meet and greet with the 3 banded armadillo so everyone got to hold it and had a photo taken with it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Fantastic Otter Experience! I had a VIP Otter voucher and visited with my partner and our twelve-year-old — it was absolutely amazing! Simon, the keeper, was incredibly and shared so many fascinating facts about otters in general and the ones living there. The zoo isn’t huge, but they make use of the space and pack in a lot to see and learn. There’s plenty of information about the and conservation efforts, as well as talks and feeding times that make the even more engaging. All the were friendly, helpful, and clearly care about the animals. What a place — we had a fantastic and would definitely recommend it! 🦦💚 Thoroughly enjoyable day out. look happy and well cared for. We came here as I booked an armadillo encounter for my boyfriend’s birthday a couple months ago, and it didn’t disappoint. With purchase of the encounter, you also get entry to the zoo. They had loads of animals, and some I haven’t seen at any other UK zoos before like skunks and maras. As soon as you enter you have a capybara and call duck exhibit and a sea otter exhibit. The sea otters were adorable, I’m a bit biased though as they’re one of my favourite animals! They were very vocal with loads of little squeaks. We looked around for about an hour, and even got to go into the rabbit enclosure and feed them some veggies while getting strokes in. You can also buy some farmyard food at entry to feed the wallabies, maras, goats and horses, which was so worth it to feed the adorable horse they have! We had our armadillo encounter with Kennedy and she was absolutely amazing. She was so knowledgable on the little “armoured dogs” hehe and she was so kind and friendly. We held one of the two 3 banded armadillos while he curled up, these were housed with some marmosets which loved playing with my phone and perching on our shoulders! We then fed and stroked/gave back scratches to the two girl 6 banded armadillos. Kennedy told us we got lucky as usually they were tired after they’d eaten and they would lie under their heat lamp, but they loved exploring around our feet and standing up on their hind legs to get a better view of us! Our was about 30 minutes and it was perfect, I couldn’t recommend it more! I already want to go back for their otter haha. Thank you Kennedy and the other at the zoo, it was a memory my boyfriend and I won’t forget! Visited this zoo yesterday. Such an amazing little find. Plenty of variety of and very staff. The pens were clean, looked really happy. We bought some food too to feed some of the animals, it was amazing to be so close to them. Well worth a visit. We have just come home from doing the VIP family with he fantastic zoo keeper Alex. Such an amazing experience, the was brilliant and Alex was so knowledgeable. We will definitely be doing it again Such a small zoo, we went to meet the armadillos and had the best time. We loved our ‘Armadillo for Two’ and meeting and learning all about the armadillos - both the three-banded and the six-banded! Melon, the three-banded one, is able to curl herself up into a ball and be held, and she looks so funny when she scurries across the floor on her tiptoes! The six-banded one was and more than happy to be fed live mealworms by us. It was seeing them up close and being given so much information about them - Kennedy really knows her stuff and exudes genuine enthusiasm and care for the creatures! We visited today for the zoo and Santa’s grotto and had such a time. The grotto was and it was really nice that Santa encouraged us to take photos and showed lots of interest in the kids! The present from Santa was also really for each of our 4 children aged between 6 and 12. The zoo was really nice! There were lots of we have not seen before at regular zoo’s and all of the look very well looked after. The were really approachable and went out of their way to talk to us and tell us information about the animals. They were very and showed they were really passionate about the animals. We were asked if we wanted to hold some of the and insects and the were really patient and encouraging. We had a really day and would definitely return. We had a at the Exotic Zoo yesterday Everything was right from booking with Mel and collecting the adoption packs, to spending with the lemurs with Kristen she had so much knowledge about the lemurs and was so reassuring when the kids were a bit nervous Overall a morning out and staff Thank you for a few hours For a small little wildlife park, we had a few hours! The were very and at the of our they had some snakes out of their cages, 1 of which you were able to touch. My little ones absolutely loved it! They also enjoyed feeding some the animals, the goats were a big hit! There is a range of to see, all of which were milling about in their enclosures or you could see them in their houses. The paths in parts were muddy, which is to be expected after the wet weather we've been having. Just make sure you've got sensible footwear on! The small dinosaur museum on site was interesting and the kids enjoyed having a look around. Overall, we had at the Exotic Zoo! We went here last minute after an awful week to look for some joy and we weren't disappointed! We booked a meerkat and were hosted by Jack who was great! Once the was over we went around the zoo looking at the wide variety of to see, we bought plenty of food which was mostly enjoyed by the goats and the pony! The otters were so cute! The colleagues in the zoo are just and will interact with you as you go around. One saw us looking at the guinea pigs and popped into the enclosure so we could pet "kinder". It was so to meet fellow animal lovers and who knew so much information. Would definitely have an here again! We took our sons here for a cold reptile animal as my 10 year old loves them. Jack the keeper was very and shared sooo much information about the reptiles we handled and was very funny, keeping us engaged the whole time. Although not large we had a 3 hours or so including the 1 hr which happened after it closed. There are other opportunities to get close to the smaller creatures as keepers were stood at strategic places around the park with various creatures allowing visitors to ask questions and touch them. All that we met were and informative and clearly knew the well and enjoyed working with them with many anecdotes shared. We did the lemur feeding with Kennedy who was a wonderful host; happy to answer any questions we had. Rose, Bramble, Julian, and Juliet were a joy to meet! It’s especially that all proceeds from the lemur go towards the Plant A Tree Madagascar charity. We also loved looking at all the genuine fossils in the small museum, as well as learning about the legless lizards at the keeper talk!
