Trail signage needs improvement, we thought we were walking on a modest length loop, which turned out to be 7km, longer than we planned. But really beautiful. Lovely with some amazing trees and surroundings accompanied by the lake. The has 3 routes, a red medium (~2.5km), a small 500m yellow off of the red and a blue (~3km). We combined all of them and it took us just over 2 hours with a few stops for photos on that. It's a lovely family as mostly covered with gravel with the exception of the blue trail that goes through the and a field. The sights are lovely. There is a large dog breed restriction there with some breeds requiring a muzzle and a leash. Nice little with walking trails. Went off trail trying to do an extended loop ended up on horse track around a field and walked 8km. The dog loved it. If you stay in the the trail is much shorter. There’s lots of great places for taking photos as well and if you just want to sit and think by the lake, there’s a place for that too ☺️ Lovely area but totally neglected. Sign at the start gives no idea as to the lengths of the trails. Fallen trees and scrub blocking the walking trails, some trails almost impassible or end in the middle of nowhere. Signs fallen down and poor directions. Like the Shannon walks in Athlone, poor job. .
