The is an incredible treasure trove, showcasing a rich collection of ancient artifacts from the Roman Empire era, making it a historical haven for children and archaeology enthusiasts alike. Now featuring a temporary exhibition with a audiovisual reconstruction of this first Roman colony in France. Well worth a visit. The makes an agreeable walk from the city centre along the canal. Absolutely fascinating, both for content and presentation. Parking is difficult. How do you plan a new without a parking lot? But that’s a quibble. This is a Must See if you are into the history of the region or if you are interested in how far new design has come. An excellent experience, contained in unexpectedly beautiful architecture. If you enjoy Roman stuff, you will find the exhibition interesting, particularly the wonderful interactive section. The permanent exhibition is also well presented and educative, although the wall of blocks, though stunning in presentation, remains a little lacklustre - though it's hard to imagine that it could be more interesting than it was. A huge plus is the size of the exhibition; not so large that it becomes torture, not so small that it is not immersive. Highly recommended. Excellent brand new (2020) made from combining two major Roman collections originally in Narbonne's old city. They have a collection of beautiful rare frescoes from a villa found nearby, as well as a great set of interactive exhibits on Narbonne's role as the prosperous Roman trade capitol of Gaul--based on artifacts from nearby shipwrecks.
