Easy and relatively short trail up to the Miradouro de São Lourenço and back through the forest going clockwise (although some parts were burnt when we visited). Very picturesque views all along, specially from the Chapel (Capela de São Lourenço de Manteigas). Going through amazing old oaks, beautiful beech and chestnut trees (some Douglas firs too). Partly shaded, which is good for walking during hotter weather, and mostly a straightforward up and down loop walk. Very nice walk!! Go hiking this one, last mile very steep! All together 3,5 miles so good for 1,45h Very nice hike. You can make it flatter and shorter if you turn right at the small wooden milking (or milk?) barn.The marked trail goes forward and left. Well marked and easy hiking trail. I recommend going there during the middle of fall (end of October, maybe, to get the yellow, orange, red tones. I went by the end of September and everything was summertime green. An amazing and magical place. Not what you would expect in Serra da Estrela Mountain! What a great walkabout! It’s a bit of a “climb”, that last kilometer 😅, but all the way one can enjoy the beautiful mixture of different nature colors. The greens are so beautifully green, the browns are really noticeable, the dead nature makes a nice setup and photography is just the natural thing to do. That and enjoying nature in piece and quiet, of course! 😄 The trail itself is a nice 5.5km with some challenging ups and downs, but again... you’re likely to get distracted with the sights along the way!
