Once freed from obscurity, the house, transformed into a museum in 2000, seems frozen in time. A journey through the rooms, arranged on three levels, then unfolds into the deep roots of Fausto's personal and sporting life. It's more than a museum and I didn't expect to see such intimacy ! One might be overcome by a strange feeling upon entering the first exhibition room on the ground floor, almost as if it were an act of desecration, for it was the very room where his body lay in state before joining the funeral procession. The place holds treasures that bear witness to Coppi's career, historically linked to the vintage fragrance of the Bianchi brand, a symbol of the Piedmontese's absolute reign during the post-World War II decade. Beneath a glass case, one of the bicycles, its frame still bearing rust stains, seems to have been placed there by its former owner. Going up a floor is to ascend into the patriotic atmosphere of the place, the national supremacy achieved by Coppi on his home turf. Two rooms are exclusively dedicated to the covers and thousands of pages devoted to him by "La Gazzetta dello Sport," "Tuttosport," and the older "Lo Sport." Along the pages of an impeccably bound encyclopedia, the stories of the sovereign's masterful feats unfold: his five Giro d'Italia victories over a period of thirteen years between 1940 and 1953, and his exploits in the Dolomites... In a small room, the padded helmet worn during the hour record at the Vigorelli velodrome in Milan in 1942, covering 45.871 km, is displayed. A relic of another era. The legendary Bianchi jersey is framed above a modest wooden chest of drawers supporting two trophies and an Italian champion's jersey. Mounted on the wall are two stuffed pheasants, other hunting trophies, a pastime Fausto enjoyed in his free time. It's a place to visit for all the fan and supporters of the World Champion Fausto Coppi, the local guides are so helpful and will give your visit a particular atmosphere full of interesting stories and memories.
