The is located right on the border between Italy and Slovenia just as its name suggests. While the building itself is quite plain the food is really great. The owner was most pleasant and the service was quick and efficient. The white and red house wines went very well with our selection from a quite extensive menu. I would certainly recommend this to anyone crossing the border at this point. The quality-quantity-price ratio was perfect. I had a disappointing experience here. When I arrived around 7:30 PM (the is open until 10 PM), I politely asked if there were any tables available. The older man at the front was extremely rude and dismissive. Due to a language barrier, I used Google Translate to communicate, but he still turned me away, saying no tables were available—even though I could clearly see that less than half the smaller dining room was occupied. I then asked about takeaway and was told it wasn’t possible because they had only one server and one cook. I completely understand if they were short-staffed, but the rudeness I experienced was not okay. Moments after I left, I saw two men pull in and get seated without issue. As a solo female traveler and person of color, I did not feel welcome here. The lack of patience or basic courtesy made the experience feel discriminatory and upsetting.
