The locals were kind and moved to a different table so that we could sit and have dinner. The host was very sweet and we ordered the lamb platter, which was delicious. We definitely had leftovers! The bread was homemade and we were given traditional bacalau on the house. This is as authentic as it gets. If we are ever in the Douro valley again, we’ll definitely come back to this one of a kind spot! Stumbled upon this authentic gem while exploring the surrounding hills and mountain areas. It is family owned and operated and the genuine pride and attention shows in every detail of the service and food. Possibly the best pork I have ever tasted in my life, accompanied by amazing olive oil that is from the family farm. If that wasn't enough the owner made us feel so at home we didn't want to leave when we were finished. Also, the portions are huge! Wonderful family run restaurant with a son who was happy to translate and speak English with us. Food potions are huge and would serve 4 people with ease. Mixed grill and starter for around 45€. Terrific value for money This small family restaurant is a real gem. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. Despite the fact that when we arrived (around 8pm), it was full to capacity, the service by the owner and her two sons, was friendly and fast. I highly recommend this (5120 Taberna) restaurant. Sherri and Fady We found this small restaurant in a small town of Tabuaco . It turned out to be the best food we have had in Portugal in the last 5 days in Lisbon Porto Braga and other towns. The service was exceptional, they laid out the table so well and prepared exceptional dishes. It’s worth taking a detour to go eat at this place. It’s a cosy , Beautiful, nice decoration and wonderful service. located in a cosy European Street.
