Even for those not particularly interested in military history, plenty of the displays had entry level information, with more detailed information for those more versed in the subject. Can get to the with two bus connections from the city centre, which was easy enough. The main is located where it says, but they also have a second part with vehicle displays nearby. It's under ten minutes up the hill with a slight incline. Interesting with insites of the military and the wars, occupation that the Estonians had to endure the past centuries. If you know nothing about this part of and want to know more it is a good place to visit. During my visit bus 174 took me there and back to the centre of Tallinn. The last Russian military finally left in 1994. If you’re interested in history, this is a must visit. There is an incredible wealth of information within, you could quite easily spend an entire day here. In fact, we’re planning on going back to continue. Furthermore the staff are all very friendly, and always there if you need anything. This is such a great way to spend the day. There is so much to see, but the high light for me . Is the submarine. I was a 8 year old child again. Will be coming back with my friends just to visit the museum. A small but detailed place, the tour guide peter was very knowledgable and welcoming. There was also aarge hanger further up the road with a number of armoured vehicles, that is definitely worth a look at Very interactive with a lot of stuff to try on and a lot of vehicles to sit in! If you‘re into the of war and tanks you should definietly check it out! I had an amazing time, one of the best days in my time in Tallinn! Interesting displays with lots of information. They had uniforms you could put on and guns to hold. Make sure to walk to their second building as well that houses a bunch of tanks and anti-aircraft. An excellently curated focused on the wars/conflicts affecting the area of Estonia and around about, from the Vikings to today. There is the option to superficially scan the exhibits or spend time reading the more detailed write ups which are in Russian, Estonian and English. There is also a nice audio guide for the smart phone that works well (well it did on mine). On the ground floor there is also an audio visual display (again in various languages) that gives you a synopsis of the four historic periods of conflict in the Estonian region. There is also a nice display of military kit from clubs to modern day fire arms etc. Great museum! It was really worth the price because you learn a lot about estonian history. It was maybe the best that I visited on Tallinn. Great historical exposition, all is in English too. A must in Tallinn. Such a great experience! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and the informative and easy to follow. The items displayed were interesting and the overall experience just magnificent. I recommend this to everyone, I myself took a foreign friend there to introduce him to our and the left a great impression to him. Was a great experience and friendly staff. Also really enjoyed vehicles hangar that had tanks, vehicles and artillery from various time periods included in the pass. Hangar was about 5 minutes walking from museum, but not a problem. Probably one of the most informative war museums I have ever visited - and I'm a buff that spends my vacations visiting museums ;-) TBH, I think that several of the museums in Tallinn give a somewhat one-dimensional account of history, but this one seems fairly unbiased to me - you get the entire national experience from 12th century to the Cold war with a focus on megatrends and great power politics incl the d1rty laundry regarding relations to Soviet and Germany that most will hide.
