The is in a wonderful setting, at a Danube turning point. The ticket is 10 lei. The lady is very nice, but she is no guide, not enough info. The museum building is ok, but empty . The restoration of the site is a shame. The type of materials, the construction techniques, how concrete was poured over some parts has nothing to do with original. They put margins on walls and on top of margins they put pebbles and concrete. There was a big scandal. No info panels you walk around, so how can people be taught and educated about the past? I could see 2 small plastic ones, hard to spot. Many will say it's just stones, in the end. Foarte interesant Absolutely no information about what you see. Nothing. Just grass and weeds everywhere. If you want to find out the history or the layout of this place you have to search online. Not even a QR code to scan. 0 interest from whoever is in charge of this place. Add a controversial (not to say bad) restoration and there is almost no reason to stop here. The only good thing is that they do have a POS so you can use your card to buy entry tickets. Just an amazing history. These ruins were originally an important Geto-Dacian centre on the right bank of the Danube. After the Roman conquest, it became a civil and military centre in the province of Moesia Inferior. This is actually the place where the first inscription of a romanian word was ever found - the word PETRE on a clay pot. The restoration isn.t really accurate (the walls are too high) but you will find here a lot of ancient stones and walls. A very well designed museum. The is well preserved, with lots of things to see from the time of the Roman empire. Take time to walk around the fortress, many things to see. A must see place near the Danube River. Partially rebuilt... Great monument touched by inadequate management (corruption and lack of skill) great wiev from the fortress... Road to and from in perfect condition Cool site! I think they're in the process of making it tourist friendly so there is no information anywhere at the site as to finds, buildings, purposes, dates etc. You could use your imagination for sure, so for the ruins and saving grace of my imagination I award 4 stars Curat Foarte bine amenajat... Nice with superb view. I wish to see in Romania more fortresses rebuild like this. Capidava was an important Geto-Dacian center on the right bank of the Danube. After the Roman conquest, it became a civil and military center, as part of the province of Moesia Inferior, modern Dobruja. Off to a good start. Looks a lot better from the outside, there's less than 10% of the citadel that's actually been dug out. But what they did get to restore looks great. And it also has a great view of the river. It's a beautiful place to visit ... At the moment the it's under renovation but the view it's spectacular it's worth a stop 😍 It just opened and it is nicely done. It is worth visiting. The views of the and the Danube River are memorable. Un loc plăcut ce merita vizitat. Pentru cei pasionați de pescuit, aveți și Dunărea aproape. Still under renovation. I really hope it will be open to public soon. Its a piece of romanian history worth visiting. 3 stars because now its imposible to visit the fortress..the Danube..go to a picnic there..and just enjoy the day with someone you love and why not alone..nature heals everything and like a romanian legend says.."the water washes all the evil in the world".. Still under reconstruction. Museum and archeological site are not open yet. Nice view to the Danube river Cetatea Capidava, un alt loc de poveste! 🥰 Recomand! 🥰 Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
