Torre dell'Orso Beach

Torre dell'Orso is a beautiful beach, but be prepared for crowds and higher prices during peak season. Consider visiting during the shoulder season (late May, early June, or September) for a more enjoyable experience. Arrive early or explore nearby beaches for a less crowded alternative. The beach has both free public areas and private beach clubs ('lidos') offering sunbeds and umbrellas for a fee. Prices at the private clubs can be very high. Parking is paid and can fill up quickly. Weekends are exceptionally crowded. Consider alternative beaches nearby if crowds are a concern. RUN AWAY from this beach.I have never in my life seen such a crowded beach - people literally forced to stand because there is no spot on the sand left - and this was by 8:30 AM! Loved this beach. We were there a week before high season so it was not totally packed yet and there was room on the free part of the beach... The beach is great, the sea water is really warm and the waves are really small. It's ideal for families and kids. The only downside at this time of the year, is the amount of people. Torre dell’Orso is a stunning beach just a short drive north of Otranto. It’s touted as the “Caribbean beach” of Salento and in fairness, it does have the soft sand and beautifully clear turquoise water. Beautiful location and the beach is very nice. But a few ‘problems’ :Problem 1: very crowded!Problem 2: very noisy. Frequently mentioned in reviews: Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. Its too bur you can find some facilities for drinking and eating. Nice view, beautiful Very nice but steep rocks, a bit difficult to walk into the water. Many just jumped of the cliff ! Visited midweek late August, a bit but managed to find space for umbrellas and chairs. The is a bit dark that spreads everywhere and needs to be cleaned well after leaving the beach. Small waves, lots of private areas with umbrellas and chairs for a fee. temperature pretty good. Bellissima A fantatsic with decent big waves - finally. The beaches is of decent size but also a bit - specially if you enter from the southern end (near the big parking lot). The was clean and it was fun dip with the waves. Only drawback - way too many commercial sunbeds in the - and priced very high - Eur 35 for 2 beds and 1 umbrealla. Also there were rime slots of fulm day or afternoon - did not understand the whole pricing structure. Chose Baia d’Oriente because I wanted a with showers, WC, and a bar (not a beach). Came on Sunday, September 7th, and the price was a bit higher than weekdays (€35). Parking is only in the blue zone in the village (€1.50/hour), but with some luck you can find a spot close to the beach. It was windy and the waves were pretty big, but overall I really enjoyed it. The only downside is that the shower costs €0.50 and runs for a shorter time compared to other beaches. On weekdays Torre dell’Orso is quite peaceful and relaxing, perfect for enjoying the sea without too many around. On weekends, however, it gets very and can feel a bit overwhelming. The area is actually quite nice during the week, with plenty of space to settle down. The is clear, the is soft, and the bay itself is very scenic. Definitely worth visiting, but try to go on a weekday if you want a calmer experience Great especially for kids. Fine sand, gradually depth into ocean. You can rent loungers and umbrella for 20euros or better yet bring your own umbrella and blanket and set up for free. Plenty of space for that! The is great, the sea is really warm and the waves are really small. It's ideal for families and kids. Parking was easy but paid. It's really near the beach, a few minutes walk. The only downside at this time of the year, is the amount of people. The was realy packed and it was hard to find a patch of sand. We will definitely give it another try. Very nice, in love with those views ❤️ We've tried a few beaches around Lecce, on the east cost and they were very nice but they were quite busy so couldn't really say how we enjoyed them, until today. This was amazing, there are areas where you pay for the use of the sun loungers and parasol and some were free, obviously you would need your own gear. The heat varied today around 36 degrees and without the shade of the parasole would have been too much. The sea was amazing and clear and just the right temperature to cool off from the sun!!! Definitely going back!!! Highly recommend a visit. The were too much but the was wery well.... Nice pleace & Mare stupendo! Spiaggia comoda e attrezzata A beautiful sandy with natural shade. Fine on the shore and in the water, with a shallow entrance stretching dozens of meters into the sea. Clean and clear. Loved this beach. We were there a week before high season so it was not totally packed yet and there was room on the part of the but we chose to pay for a chair and umbrella which cost 12 euro each. It is a sandy with crystal clear blue and not for swiming. I'd imagine in high season this place would be overflowing and parking would be hard. It is paid parking and as we were off season we got one close to walking distance of the beach. Ther are plenty of places to get food and drinks. And the town itself of Torre dell'Orso is quaint and I wished we could of stayed here. RUN AWAY from this beach. Loud music, vendors, and general chaos everywhere. There are a few very large private clubs here, some with 200+ beds. By 8:30 AM, every one claims to be “completo” with prior reservations. Our mistake for assuming this could be booked day-of. Absolutely not possible and no way we were joining the mayhem in the public area. We left, having wasted the 3€ on the parking, and drove about 20 minutes north, to a far more peaceful area. I’d advise you do the same. Super beautiful blue and warm water. Very busy though (in July). You can rather pay to seat in a bar (25 euro for two places and a umbrella) or bring your own stuff and seat in the sand. The town itself is small but has a few good spots to eat and a deli. It was quiet when we visited in late May, which was ideal, but you can tell it probably gets really busy during peak season. Definitely worth checking out if you’re exploring the Salento coast. Probably the only negative thing I can say is it’s disappointing, like so many beaches in Italy Lido (pay to use) area costs are so high and take up way too much of beach. The is definitely worth a visit, especially when the wind in the are blows from south south/east. Be aware that this is very ñe of the most packed ever, I’ve been reading posts on the internet about lining up at 05:30AM to get a sun bed and an umbrella in august. If you hate packed beaches then stay away from Torre dell’Orso. Lovely but wouldn’t go on the weekend as overcrowded ++, there’s parking right beside the for 5 euro for the whole day Beautiful location and the is very nice. But a few ‘problems’ : Problem 1: very crowded! Problem 2: very noisy. Few beachclubs with animation teams, competing for who makes thé loudest music. Problem 3: beachclub parasol plus 2 beds :€94,- …..a day! Well you might think you are in Saint-Tropez or Monaco or North-East Sardegna, well by a long shot it isn’t. So the prices are really laughable and imo shameful. But hey i guess it’s how the ‘market’ works 🤦🏾. We arrived at 10:30 and we left the ‘disappointed’ at 11:00. Maybe we are too simple for this, but just beware and make your own judgment.
