Great place to walk the dogs or just for a walk. Bird hide overlooking the lake. Beautiful and peaceful place to walk and enjoy the peace and quiet. This is a true hidden treasure for bird lovers! Bring binoculars and a good camera, because there is so much to see here. Truly glad that we went here. Hope it stays hidden because it would ruin it if too many people came here. It's a beautiful piece of land but there's very little to see this time of year as it's been so dry. Still, for a quiet walk in nature it's beautiful. Beautiful handmade sanduiches, hamburgers, etc, really spicy sause there!Really good people!(Trailler-restaurant) this is a hidden gem. it is not organised, but it is natural and beautiful. less is more. loved the visit. My second visit (February, now July) Both hides locked. Poorly managed. Not much to see What a wonder nature preserve. We saw otters, many birds and a lot of plants species. Posted birds with Merlin and the plants and mushrooms via seek to iNaturalist . Also will post most of the trail to hiking project. The far side is poorly maintained so if you go wear long pants and prepare to almost clear you own path. So good to be in a wild environment, yet within easy distance of Caldas da Rainha. The path was quite overgrown, but we walked round the whole reserve on 15th September 2025 in 1.5 hours without hurrying. The reserve staff were very pleasant and helpful. They apologised for the state of the path - they hadn't been able to use machinery due to the risk of fire. Saw osprey, grey heron, common waxbill etc and heard firecrest and Cetti's warbler. Lovely place that lets you feel like you're in nature, even though it's in a relatively built up area connecting Caldas to Tornada. Depending on the season, you can see some pretty birds here, and there may be mammals, though I haven't seen any. Fallen trees and flooded paths do occur, could use more maintenance, but this is Portugal Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
