A Delightful Culinary Experience! Our visit was an absolute highlight of our trip. From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us with genuine warmth and attentiveness, making us feel right at home. We indulged in the duck à l’orange and the picanha, both dishes were cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor and showcasing the chef’s expertise. The fries were crispy and golden, complementing the mains beautifully. However, the highlight for us was the freshly baked bread: undoubtedly the best we’ve had during our time in Portugal. Paired with the most flavorful olives, it was a simple yet unforgettable start to our meal. The ambiance of the restaurant, combined with the attentive service and exquisite cuisine, made for an exceptional dining experience. It’s evident that the team takes great pride in their work, ensuring every guest leaves with a smile. If you find yourself in Valado dos Frades, do not miss the opportunity to dine here. It’s a true testament to Portuguese culinary excellence and hospitality. A cozy in a quiet place. Service was friendly and normal in time. The decoration is nice and typical portuguese. The food was very tasty and within acceptable prices. Tge desserts were not many and the chocolate mousse was very good. The is really good, with very nice staff. The also is nicely decorated. The prices are also favourable. Recommended if you stay in the area, or need food while driving by. Incredible traditional Portuguese food at reasonable prices. Lovely service, kid friendly. We enjoyed the grilled codfish in olive oil and garlic as well as the lime mousse. Delicious! Wow I was blown away with this restaurant, what an absolute gem of a place and in a beautiful historic town. And the food was out of this world, with a Michelin level quality to it. We have been to Nazare many times and usually not impressed with the food in the touristic part of Nazare. So we drove 5 minutes to this which is in the little town called Valado dos Frades. We went with some local friends of ours who spoke highly of the place. I ordered the mushroom risotto which was probably the best risotto I’ve ever had in my life! Cooked slowly with wine and local cheese and served in a big saucepan, it was divine. My friends shared the hugest rump steak they’ve ever had after the chef personally came out and showed them different meats. We also had many sides including garlic mushroom and chestnuts , salad, and a grilled codfish with a garlic salsa which was so original. Don’t go past the deserts either! The lime mouse was other worldly and probably the best mouse I’ve ever had. The chef came out and spoke with us as well which was a super nice and personal experience. The is in an old wine cellar with high ceilings and lots of memorabilia including a grape press and wooden wine vats. The price was also very reasonable. Honestly if you’re going to Nazare this is the place to go. Solid choice for a good meal. I frequently bring friends here because I know the food will be fresh and tasty. Only two complaints. They frequently don't have all of the steak options and my dog cannot come in. If possible get a reservation because they are frequently full. We had the vegetable lasagna and almond cake for dessert - both were delicious. The staff is very friendly and courteous.
