An easy climb from Seeheim with views all the way to Frankfurt. It takes about 30 - 40 minutes to up from Seeheim. At the top of the you will come to a bridge that takes you a trench into the castle grounds. There is the main tower, plus lots of other reconstruction areas including a well, walls and basement areas. You are encouraged to make a small contribution to help support reconstruction costs. The view is spectacular with views to frankfurt and south to Melibokus and Alsbach. There are picnic tables to relax and have a snack. An awesome through a wooded area to a castle. Tannenberg is getting rebuilt by the local people. There are some parts here that are fantastic for cycling. Well worth the time and experience. The ruins can be reached only on foot or by bike. The hiking path is lovely especially during early summer. From the castle, you can enjoy beautiful views of the Rhine Valley. There is no café or restaurant at the top, so you need carry your food and drinks. There are picnic benches though. Garbage bins are available....so empty packets and cans can be disposed off. No toilets available either. Worth a visit, especially if you are staying at the Lufthansa hotel nearby as you can to it up the hill. Be aware that the forest can be tricky if you don’t know the place. Half hour hike from nearby town for a beautiful view that reaches Darmstadt and Rhein-Main area. There are benches to sit and enjoy the moment, but there were no toilets and opportunity to buy drinks/food. A lovely with an awesome view, the remains are located on a hill overseeing Seeheim village. I recommend visiting if you are nearby!
