This is a national trust car park. It costs £6 to all day. It's right next to the beach. There are toilets. There is a cafe. There is a up the side of the mountain via for stunning views. You can also go onto the beach. Dogs are allowed on the beach. This is extremely wide when the tide is out, brilliant for stretching your legs and exercise. This also has an amazing amount of drift wood pieces. Great place to visit. The National Trust car is near the down, gets full quickly. The car is a 10 minute from the down. Steep path, open the walk, not for the faint of heart. The are spectacular, down across the sands once you are up the top. Proceed to the end to find the ruined fort. The back gives the view of Weston and it's pier. For those who don't fancy the effort, enjoy a along the sands. It can be muddy when the tide is out. Absolutely beautiful spot near Weston Super Mare. Long flat sandy with cliffs at one end. Good for kids and climbers. Lots of walkers. Excellent cycle path from Weston Super Mare. A good which starts with a steep climb up a few steps. Don't expect the to be flat once you are up top. However a visit to the Fort and the fantastic make it wortwhile Beautiful spot and very quiet when we went as we wanted to go for sunset. The national trust car currently only opens till 4pm, which is a shame as NT members but we managed to get in the car just beyond it which is for the bird right next to it with a closing time of 9pm was £2 for two hours. This is a great place for a trial walk. It’s easy to navigate and you can choose to along the path to the peak or take the direct steps. The area is quite windy. Cafe was pricey and choice was limited. We arrived at the National Trust carpark early and it was quiet. We paid £6 for the day. We walked up the hill, via the steep and along to the Fort which was very interesting. We walked on some small hilly trails to get there then walked on the flatter path to get back. We had our dogs with us. Although some dogs were off lead, we spoke to a chap near the who said that just last week a local lady had sadly lost one of her dogs off the cliffs. Even though our Collie is excellent off lead we took his advice and kept him on the lead. The Fort was very interesting with information plaques around the area. There were plenty of cows but no goats about today. On our return we had a lunch in the National Trust cafe. It was very pleasant and we sat upstairs looking over the sea. We had Cornish pasty, chips, cheesy chips, sausage bap and a fruit scone. All nice and warm and fresh. We really enjoyed our time at Brean Down. Lovey Great food in the cafe, biker friendly too Well worth the trek Great place for all, walks up Brean down 1 short and very steep, 1 long but reasonably gentle slopes with spots to rest. Great NT café and shop below, reasonable prices, all coffee and food I've had has been very good, nice staff. Small indoor seating downstairs more room upstairs, courtyard seating and toilets Inc 1 for less able, plenty of side seating also. Plenty of dedicated cycle stands and other places to lock up bikes, large car parks. 7.5 miles of golden sands allowing you to walk/cycle all the way to Berrow and Burnham on sea. 10/10. Nice either (lots) or old military road to get to the top. to the end to see the forts with lots of information and history available. Very interesting place to visit. Excellent to get to the fortifications on the western end, either over the top or on the track on the north side. Fantastic dog friendly flat beach, great views, loads of space! Great place for out over the Bristol Channel with the Victorian and WW2 fortifications adding interest to the at the end of Brean Down. Approximately 6km there and back. Have a play on the before you head off to the fort. It's only just over a mile to the Fort from the car park, but it feels like 5 miles if you use the and across the top. But it is so worth it. There is a longer, more gentle path around the outside. Most people seem to take that way back. Take a camera. Take food and water. Use the toilet near the National Trust before you go. If you feel especially adventurous, climb down the rocks to the left of the Fort down to a pebble beach. There's a little cave you can explore. Nearly all the food in the is wheat based, which I can’t eat because of coeliac disease. The only non-wheat foods were crisps and a very dry gluten free scone. However the staff were very helpful and efficient £6 to for an hour 🤮🤮🤮 national trust! . Shame use to be good. (Smaller car coins only £1.5hr ) Short with panoramic views.
