A lovely trail with plenty of points of interest along the way. You can follow different and it whichever way you want, but if you want to see all the points of interest then just make sure you keep an eye on which direction you pick at junctions. Various ponds, the pit pony and observatory are worth seeing and for me the highlight is Penallta rocks, the craggy cliff face that you can onto and around. Plenty of photogenic spots and a varied and gentle walk, definitely a place to visit in any weather. So many lovely to through dogs, parking is free and always available. Great place to take the for a walk. The was clean, well kept, and safe to take your dog off the lead if you want to. Beautiful place to the dog, so many different trails to walk. Unfortunately the only downside is there are so many inconsiderate dog owners out there who do not pick up after their dogs, or who do pick up in dog bags and then throw them in the bushes, really shame as it can spoil it. More bins are needed around the site Great place for a dog with good parking and well maintained tracks. Dog heaven! A nice selection of well maintained all weather trails interspersed with sculptures referencing nature and the areas mining past - perfect for dog walking, running or just going for a leisurely stroll. There are a number of wildlife ponds with decking and viewing platforms so care should be taken to keep under control in these areas. The lower sections of the parc also form part of the national cycle network route 47 - so once again care should be taken to keep under control due to passing cyclist. A up to the highest point in the parc is rewarded with some pleasant views and is a great spot to stop and take it all in. There isn't an on site cafe but the Colliers Rest adventure farm & cafe is adjacent to the bottom car and does nice coffee and cakes along with a decent looking breakfast. One of the more popular dog places in the area, offering typical Welsh nature and views of subtle hills surrounded by trees. Such a beautiful and breathtaking place to be the views are something to behold, penallta Parc is an amazing memorial to the miners and pit ponies that dedicated their lives to families and people in their community's Enjoy around this area, flying my drone and taking photos, irresponsible dog owners spoil the enjoyment on some visits by not keeping them on leads and causing arguments amongst responsible dog owners. We go for a here most weekends, it's a gorgeous park. We particularly appreciate that it has a proper tarmac path which makes it pram & wheelchair accessible. There are a lot of options to go on dirt/ gravel too if you want a bit more of an explore, so there's something for everyone. Such a great place to have on your doorstep, recommend if you want some fresh air. Only ventured to the main flat area to try the drone. Nice location for a walk, and a few trails off the main flat grassy section. Good car spacing, but I didn't see any toilets. I think this links to the Taff Trail north/south so a good route to explore if you are passing on a bicycle. There was a few points of interests we will look at next time, but not much to say based off our first visit. There were many dog walkers so I did mention I would be using a drone and are they OK with that. I wanted pictures of above the old Penallta Colliery, but so many restrictions regarding drone flying it's hardly worth holding my licence. These are the points of interests people want to see, especially as I run a local community page also. After looking all over this location next time, it may reflect a higher rating than three stars given this time. Love taking the for a slow wander when the weather permits. Nice variety of options, open, flat, wooded or hilly, there's an option for all needs & wants. Plus the place is beautiful X I can see why people go here lovely scenery however it is massively let down by the amount of Dog poo in the middle of foot so you spend most of your time trying to avoid stepping in it than actually looking at the scenery. Lots of off leads which isn’t great if you have a nervous dog as you get the same stupid response of “It’s ok my dog is friendly”. Your dog might be friendly but my dog doesn’t like other which is why it’s on a lead. After you manage to avoid all the dog mess on the you are then met with a woman shredding her winter coat leaving furr everywhere making the place look even worse. Yes I’m sure the wildlife would love your furr but do it somewhere else and leave it in a bush for them not in the middle of a field. Unfortunately the Horse is now scarred by motor cross riders. Very disappointed by the whole place it has so much potential but lack of imagination and budget to actually make it a brilliant place to walk. This is a place I’ve come to, many times to my dogs. I’ve seen the mature over the years until present day. The is maintained by a great team who have done a lot of work over the years to address drainage. As you around, you’ll see culverts which have been added. If you check out Penallta Parc on Google Earth, you’ll be able to see “Sultan” the horse from satellite. An aerial view shows a horse sculpted during the creation of Penallta. It’s a lovely place to and there are lots of different to explore. It’s a peaceful place and great to escape the hustle and bustle of life. In summer, people bring a picnic and sit on the grass relaxing. Well worth a visit.
